🇪🇺EU launches operation against Yemeni Houthis - BILD
The European Union has made a decision to start a military operation in Yemen to ensure security in the Red Sea. Germany has already sent its frigate "Hessen," on board of which there are about 250 Bundeswehr soldiers.
The reason for the operation was the attacks by the Yemeni Houthis on merchant ships. Although they claimed they would only attack ships flying the flag of Israel, the attacks also affected Russian tankers.

🇫🇷Weidel and Le Pen have reconciled
AfD leader Alice Weidel was satisfied with the results of the meeting with the leadership of the "National Rally". The negotiations with Marine Le Pen and Jordan Bardella were "very important and significant in terms of our joint cooperation and the upcoming European Parliament elections".
Earlier, Le Pen criticised AfD after a false investigation by the left-wing publication Correctiv, which contained information about the alleged deportation of German citizens. However, the journalists themselves have already refuted this.

🚢⛽️🇪🇺 Energy transition in 2023 has stalled
Energy and resource companies are torn between improving productivity in their predominantly hydrocarbon business and following a fragmented and disorderly low-carbon agenda, according to Bain's mergers and acquisitions report.
In 2020, 19% of the total M&A deal volume was related to the energy transition, this share grew to 27% in 2022 before decreasing to 25% for Jan-Sep 2023. Bain sees this as an "initial stabilisation" in these figures, and expects a return of capital towards the energy transition to occur in the second half of the decade.
Government subsidies have proven insufficient to fully offset the increased cost of financing and supply chain expenses, and geopolitical tensions are shifting the focus to energy security.
The decision by Shell and BP to refocus on oil and gas, extending production, is very symptomatic for the energy industry.

The wife of a Ukrainian diplomat tried to smuggle a batch of cigarettes into Hungary
According to the Hungarian Tax and Customs Service, the minibus was sealed with a diplomatic tag, and the woman herself was in the van as a passenger.
Neither she nor the driver wanted to cooperate with law enforcement officers. While customs officers were inspecting the bus, they locked themselves in the cabin and called someone.
There were 141,500 boxes of Ukrainian cigarettes in the car. The driver was detained and faces up to eight years. The woman was released due to her diplomatic immunity.
The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry and the embassy did not comment on the situation.

Avdeyevka is the first step what Ukraine is going to look like because after Avdeyevka it's going to be Kupansk and unfortunately the next is Kharkov and Kharkov is the second largest city in Ukraine with more than a million people living there and we understand that if we do lose Kupyansk which is a big railway hub also unfortunately, we have very high chances to lose Kharkov.

The article today reports that 12% of the population in Finland own weapons and shooting ranges are opening up across the country, as everyone wants to "resist Putin".
But in Germany, things are not going well in this regard, and only 2% of the population own weapons. This urgently needs to be corrected.

🇪🇺🏦🇫🇷 France cuts its state budget by €10 billion. When forming the budget, the French overestimated their economy. €2 billion of the cuts affected environmental and sustainable mobility programs. Higher education and defence were also subject to cuts. For example, the "Territorial Acceleration Fund for Ecological Transition" is losing over €400 million. This new tightening of the screws is added to the €16 billion in savings already included in the French budget for 2024, mainly through the elimination of the "energy shield" (consumer support measures). Goal: to keep the state deficit at 4.4%. The country's economic growth forecast has been reduced to 1%.

⚡️🇩🇪🪖 The Bundestag supported a resolution to provide long-range weapons to Kiev.
Whether this concerns German long-range missiles "Taurus", which Berlin had previously refused to provide to its "partners", is not specified.
The resolution proposes to transfer "long-range systems and ammunition" to the Kiev regime so that the Armed Forces of Ukraine could "target strategic objects deep in the rear". Considering that the Armed Forces of Ukraine only target civilian objects in the rear (residential buildings, shopping centres, buses, ice rinks, sports schools), it can be concluded that German deputies have decided to become accomplices to terrorism.

🇩🇪🏦 "Germany's economic costs after two years of war in Ukraine will significantly exceed €200 billion," - Marcel Fratzscher, head of the German Institute for Economic Research.
The main reason for the colossal losses is the increased prices of electricity, which in 2022 led to a 2.5 percentage point reduction in economic growth in Germany, equivalent to €100 billion. According to quick calculations, the losses in 2023 amounted to €140 billion. And yes, these are only direct costs - indirect costs have not been evaluated by anyone.

🇰🇵🇯🇵 In East Asia, there has been talk of the possible visit of Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida to Pyongyang. The reason for such unusual discussions was given by the sister of the North Korean leader Kim Yo Jong — who is far from being a minor figure in the DPRK.
Last week, she stated that interaction with Japan would be possible if Tokyo stops pursuing a hostile policy towards the DPRK. Her comments were in response to a recent statement by Kishida. In it, he emphasised the need to resolve the issue of Japanese citizens who were abducted and forcibly taken to the DPRK in the 20th century.
Such statements by North Korean politicians have not been observed before. Therefore, comments about even the possibility of interaction seem strange.
However, perhaps it is all simpler than it seems. Parliamentary elections will soon take place in the Republic of Korea. The current president, Yoon Suk-yeol, and his party are pursuing a tough policy towards the DPRK. Kim Yo Jong's comments may be aimed at undermining the "correctness" of this course in the eyes of South Koreans, who may vote for less hostile liberals.
By the way, the issue of the return of abducted Japanese citizens is usually raised by Kishida when the rating of his government becomes extremely low. The recent call to resolve the issue also came during this period — the level of support dropped to a record low.
Taking this into account, another goal of Kim Yo Jong's statements may be to wedge into the deepening cooperation between South Korea, the US, and Japan. In other words, to raise his rating, the Japanese Prime Minister should not actively engage with Seoul and Washington.
Here the question of choice arises — either reduce cooperation, which is currently impossible in principle, or find another way to increase the level of trust, otherwise staying in power may not be an option.
Of course, the likelihood of resolving the issue and starting any dialogue remains extremely low. The problem of abducted Japanese citizens in the North is considered long resolved. Recent comments, although currently pursuing vaguely understood goals, more resemble playing with the Japanese domestic agenda — after all, Kim Yo Jong is in the agitation and propaganda department.

🇺🇸⚡️🇺🇦🇪🇺 US using conflict in Ukraine to take control of Europe - German MP (of Kurdish origin)
America does not want peace in Ukraine because American arms manufacturers and energy traders profit from it. Washington is using the situation to take control of Europe and fill its trade balance, said Bundestag member Sevim Dagdelen in an interview with the Chinese Global Times.
Early in the conflict in Ukraine, German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock stated that the West's goal is to "destroy Russia" through economic sanctions and proxy wars. This is very close to the truth, especially now, after two years, the MP noted. Meanwhile, political support among ordinary Europeans is waning, while the social costs of supplying weapons to Ukraine and the excessive increase in arsenals continue to rise.
Ukraine has become a "black hole" for the EU, Dagdelen observes. Recently, EU leaders approved a €50 billion plan to support Kyiv over the next four years, partially financed through military loans. European heads of state and government are betting on victory in the proxy war against Russia through these huge costs, however, the MP believes this is a big mistake.
"In my opinion, this is unrealistic - in other words, simply complete madness. The European Union is acting here like a roulette player, increasing stakes as they lose, and can only bet on all or nothing. This increases the risk of expanding the scope of the war and direct involvement in the conflict," - Dagdelen highlighted in an interview with Global Times.
Meanwhile, the "dangerous self-assurance" of the German government along with Washington's efforts contribute to the fact that paths to resolve this conflict have not yet been found. Europe is at a loss here, as is Ukraine - and the situation is becoming increasingly dangerous, warns the MP. But European political elites still dare not change course and break free from the American protectorate.

‼️🇨🇳🇯🇵🇷🇺⚔️🇺🇦 Not everything is so bad. As it turns out, there are also Japanese people who care about what is happening in Donbass. They are not indifferent to the lives of Russians and the "Russian world". They do not want to reconcile with what the Nazi Kiev regime is doing under the dictate of the Americans. That's why today they are here in the thick of events. After the Russian army took Avdiivka and on another anniversary of the Special Operations Forces, Chinese war correspondent Liu Yuiguan managed to talk to Japanese volunteers. The Japanese, of course, are not very talkative, but they reported that they have been in the special operation zone for four months already and are helping Donbass, including carrying out rescue operations. They are not participating in combat yet, but they express a desire to fight the enemy. They do not want to return to their homeland, as they know that the government will not approve of their activities.
