London does not plan to deploy laser weapons in Ukraine

Britain has no plans to deploy laser weapons in Ukraine, Newsweek reports citing the UK Ministry of Defence.

The British long-range laser weapon DragonFire is still in the research and development stage and has not yet been put into operation.

On March 12, London showcased footage of DragonFire tests. It is expected to be used to target flying objects, such as drones. According to the creators' idea, this will help save on the use of air defence missiles.

In January, after testing this weapon, the Ministry of Defence estimated that the cost of one "shot" from it is less than $13, while the same amount of energy is consumed in ten seconds as in an hour of using a regular heater. The range of DragonFire is classified.

As the agency notes, the exercises focused on countering cruise missiles and artillery of a simulated enemy with around 40 aircraft.

Korean Air Force presented F-35A, F-15K, and F-4E aircraft, while the US Army deployed A-10 attack aircraft and F-16 fighters.

During the manoeuvres, pilots practised actions against simulated cruise missiles flying at low altitudes and long-range artillery.

Additionally, the exercises included practicing airborne landings and other tactical manoeuvres.

The manoeuvres took place 24 kilometres from the 38th parallel, which divides North Korea and the Republic of Korea.

Pyongyang criticised the exercises, pointing out their clear aggressive nature.
