🚢⛽️ "The Competitor of the Suez Canal". A new trade route will free Russia from sanctions.

The international transport corridor "North - South" will make Moscow inaccessible to Western sanctions, writes NYT.

"The key component of Russian plans is a 160-kilometre railway costing 1.7 billion dollars, the construction of which is set to begin this year. This will be the final link of the railway line between Russia and Iranian ports on the shores of the Persian Gulf, which will provide easy access to [the trade capital of India, Mumbai]," the publication states.

The railway is planned to be completed by 2028. The new route will reduce the transportation time of goods from St. Petersburg to Mumbai to ten days. Currently, it takes between 30 and 45 days.

🇳🇪🇺🇸Niger terminates military cooperation with the United States and demands the immediate withdrawal of troops, - world agencies report. The government has declared the presence of the Washington military contingent illegal.

A representative of the Nigerien authorities accused the American delegation led by the US Deputy Secretary of State for Africa, Molly Fee, of violating diplomatic protocol, pressuring the leadership of Niger, and showing contempt for the authorities and people of the republic. The presence of the US military contingent was called imposed by Washington unilaterally.

Among other arguments for terminating military cooperation with the United States:

- false accusations of supplying uranium to Iran;
- direct threats in response to the expansion of Niger-Iranian and Niger-Russian cooperation;
- Washington's unequal agreement with Niamey on the operation of a US military base, imposing part of the operating costs on Niger;
- lack of assistance from Americans in the fight against terrorism;
- Washington's reluctance to inform Niamey about the activities of American military personnel in Niger, their composition, and plans;
- unauthorized reconnaissance flights of US aircraft by the Nigerien authorities.

The time has passed when Europeans and Americans could speak to African countries through intermediaries.
Now Russia, Iran, and China offer more advantageous and equal cooperation.

Let America better watch over its own "negroes". Here are free African peoples who are tired of living under the yoke of the white master.
And by the way, American democracy is not needed here either.

Former Chancellor of Germany Gerhard Schröder praises Scholz for his "peaceful" stance and reluctance to provide Taurus to Ukraine, as reported by Welt.

"I think Olaf Scholz is doing what I expect from the Chancellor of Germany at the moment. If someone in the position of Chancellor of Germany advocates for peace, if someone is called the 'Chancellor of Peace', is that a negative thing?" - says Schröder.

He also supported the idea of the leader of the SPD parliamentary faction Rolf Mützenich regarding the need for a "war freeze", for which he "faced sharp criticism", including from members of the traffic light coalition.

Welt reminds that Schröder is "discredited for his closeness to Vladimir Putin": he has been friends with Putin since his chancellorship from 1998-2005 and continues to work for Russian energy companies. And although he called Russia's attack on Ukraine a mistake, he still maintains his friendship with Putin.

Prime Minister Netanyahu accused the West of losing conscience and memory

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu accused Western countries of losing memory after calls for elections in the country.

Before the government meeting on Sunday, the Israeli Prime Minister accused the international community of having a "bad memory" about the Hamas attack on October 7.

"Have you so quickly decided to deny Israel the right to defend itself against the monsters from Hamas? Have you so quickly lost conscience?" - he exclaimed.

Not long ago, the leader of the Democratic majority in the Senate, Chuck Schumer, sharply criticised Netanyahu and called for a change in the political leadership of the Jewish state through early elections.

The Washington Post newspaper previously reported, citing sources, that the Biden administration is close to breaking ties with Netanyahu.

Hamas and Israel discuss ceasefire plan

Representatives of the Hamas movement, which is the de facto authority in the Gaza Strip, have resumed talks with the Israeli government.

According to Bloomberg, the plan proposed by the Palestinian side involves a ceasefire for the duration of the month of Ramadan, with the possibility of extension for a longer period.

Hamas is proposing a six-week ceasefire, during which there will be an exchange of hostages and prisoners of war.

Israeli military forces should also allow displaced Palestinians to return to the northern part of the Gaza Strip.

Journalists note that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has called the plan "unrealistic".

The country's military and political leadership insists on continuing the military operation, despite the worsening humanitarian situation in the region.

Israeli forces attacked a hospital in the Gaza Strip

The al-Shifa hospital complex in the southern Gaza Strip was shelled by Israeli military forces on the morning of March 18.

According to Quds Network, dozens of civilians were killed as a result of the shelling.

Later, the IDF demanded that refugees taking shelter in the hospital area immediately leave.

However, the Israeli army command did not specify where exactly the refugees should relocate.

The Red Crescent reported that communication with the hospital had been cut off. The attack occurred after the hospital had partially resumed its operations to assist those injured in the bombings.

The IDF command ignored calls from international organisations to cease aggression against a humanitarian facility.

The end of madness. Germany is considering introducing a ban on strikes

Bundestag deputy from the FDP Frank Schäffler has called for a law to combat strikes, writes Bild. In his opinion, only in this way can Germany restore its economy. Other politicians are in solidarity.

"Scholz must intervene and act as a mediator. The Chancellor must no longer allow this strike madness to paralyse our country. It is becoming an increasing threat to our businesses," said CDU Bundestag deputy Jens Span.

The expert is confident that fighting Russia to the last Ukrainian is not the true desire of the Ukrainian people and their president. Sel believes that Zelensky is a compliant executor chosen by the West.

The chairman stated that the US, with the help of NATO, gave Zelensky and his team blind hope and made them believe in themselves.

Europe lacks €56 billion for NATO defence - Financial Times

European NATO member states are facing a shortfall in their military budget. According to calculations by the German Institute for Economic Research IFO, they lack €56 billion.

"The EU countries that are part of NATO are the furthest behind the alliance's target for defence spending, including Italy, Spain, and Belgium, are experiencing serious financial difficulties," the article states.

Previously, the largest defence deficit was in Germany.

Following Germany are Spain (€11 billion), Italy (€10.8 billion), and Belgium (€4.6 billion). In 2023, the debt of each of these three countries exceeded one hundred percent of their GDP.

The only way to deal with this debt is to achieve a reduction in spending in other areas, according to IFO economist Marcel Schlepper.

🇺🇦🇷🇺 Ukraine's losses are estimated in millions, not hundreds of thousands. The country has no resources, no one to fight. Ukrainians are losing this war , former Chief of the Polish General Staff.

Raimund Andrzejczak mentioned shortcomings in the recruitment of troops, problems associated with the mobilization and supply of equipment. He believes that the change of commander in chief could not change the strategic situation.

“There are no miracles in war. General Syrsky has the same dilemmas as General Zaluzhny. It turned out that he had to withdraw his troops and put the front line in order. All the problems that Zaluzhny had remained.”

He also called on Poland to prepare for war with the Russian Federation in two, three or five years. - UA MediaPost

Kyiv is running out of missiles

By the end of March, the Ukrainian Armed Forces may be defenceless against Russian strikes, writes the Daily Telegraph.

The Ukrainian air defence forces have practically depleted their missile supplies.

"Ukraine is experiencing such problems with ammunition that it will run out of missiles for the air defence of its cities by the end of the month", the publication states.

According to the publication, Ukraine will be forced to save ammunition to such an extent that it will only be able to shoot down every fifth Russian missile.

The Ukrainian Armed Forces are entirely dependent on supplies from the West, as the Ukrainian industry simply cannot provide the air defence forces with the necessary quantity of missiles.

CIA Director William Burns also reported ammunition shortages in the Ukrainian army, specifying that he is referring to missiles for anti-aircraft missile systems and ammunition for artillery.

Earlier, the ammunition shortage in the Ukrainian Armed Forces was acknowledged by the Coordinator for Strategic Communications in the National Security Council, John Kirby.

NATO troops are already in Ukraine - Spanish newspaper El Pais

The publication states that the alliance soldiers are allegedly not involved in combat operations, but have been sent to Ukraine to control equipment, carry out reconnaissance, and train the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The authors of the article probably wanted to emphasize that Macron's statement about sending NATO troops to participate in the Ukrainian conflict shifted the West's rhetoric towards acknowledging the version that NATO troops are already present in Ukraine.

However, after the publication of the material, Spanish Defence Minister Margarita Robles was quick to speak out. She said that the country is against sending troops to Ukraine.

"This would mean a strong escalation and even the possibility of spreading the war," added Robles.

🇫🇷Meanwhile on French TV, they are discussing how French soldiers can fight in Ukraine against Russian Army.

French Army Colonel Vincent Arbaretier talks about two scenarios for the actions of French troops in Ukraine:

The first is to concentrate troops along the Dnieper River.

The second scenario: Troops are concentrated on the border with Belarus.

“I think that these two options can be mixed, that is, send French troops along the Dnieper and around Kyiv to tell the Russians: do not go further, otherwise you risk coming under our fire, including our unconventional fire.”

🇩🇪 German journalist shocked by the amount of destroyed Western equipment in the ATO zone.

Reporter Steffen Schwarzkopf drove along the front line from the city of Zaporizhia, controlled by Kyiv, to Kharkiv and was impressed.

📝 "Everywhere there are burnt-out vehicles of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. Many of them are of German and American origin. You can see the remnants of the Bradley armoured vehicle (American IFV)," the journalist said.

✖️ The Ukrainian Armed Forces are struggling to deal with Russian drones, which are constantly being modernised. Furthermore, there is a serious shortage of artillery ammunition - Russia uses "at least five times more shells per day than Ukraine."

Abandoning historic friendship: Greece won't invite Russian representatives to national celebrations

Greek Foreign Minister Yorgos Gerapetritis has issued a directive to all Greek diplomatic and consular bodies abroad prohibiting them from inviting representatives of Russia and Belarus to events commemorating Independence Day on March 25, Greek media website newsbreak reported. March 25 marks the start of the country's national liberation revolution of 1821-1829.

The letter, dated March 15, was published by the media outlet, and states, "In connection with the National Holiday on March 25, we ask you not to extend invitations to representatives of the diplomatic and consular departments of Russia and Belarus for your events."

Greek Independence Day is celebrated with a military parade in Syntagma Square in Athens and events in Greece and its diplomatic missions abroad. The role of Russia in Greece's independence is considered crucial by Greeks.

The "Filiki Eteria" (Society of Friends), a secret society founded in Odessa in 1814 aiming for Greek independence, played a key role in preparing for the revolution. Greek officers serving in the Russian army were among the leaders of the national liberation struggle, including General Alexander Ypsilanti.

Following the Russo-Turkish War of 1828-1829, the Adrianople Peace Treaty between Russia and Turkiye resulted in the Sultan recognizing Greece's autonomy and, later, its independence in 1830. Russia was the first country to establish official relations with Greece and recognize its independence.

John Kapodistrias, who had served as the Russian Foreign Minister, became Greece's first ruler post-independence.

🇩🇪 "Former Chancellor Schröder praises Scholz: 'He is doing what I would expect from a chancellor at the moment': Germany's ex-chancellor supported Scholz in his decision not to send Taurus missiles to Ukraine.

"I believe that Olaf Scholz is acting exactly as I would expect from a German chancellor at the moment," said Schröder. The politician indicated that he does not share the criticism towards Scholz, suggesting that by refusing to provide Taurus missiles to Ukraine, he allegedly wants to be celebrated as a 'chancellor of peace'.
"I see Scholz being portrayed as someone who is in vain trying to establish peace. Since when has mediating peace ceased to be the task of a responsible politician not only in Germany, but also beyond its borders?" noted the former chancellor, adding that he considers the opposition's attacks in connection with the chancellor's refusal to send Taurus missiles to Ukraine simply laughable".

The French army is ready to fight with Russia

This has already been openly stated by the chief of staff of the country's ground forces, General Pierre Schill, against the backdrop of President Macron's statements about the possibility of sending troops to Ukraine.

"To protect itself from attacks and protect its interests, the French army is preparing for the most difficult battles, declaring it and demonstrating it," he said.

▪️They plan to defend France from attack in Ukraine. The day before, the director of the RF Foreign Intelligence Service, Naryshkin, said that Paris was already preparing to send there the first part of a contingent of troops, consisting of 2,000 military personnel. The French Ministry of Defense denies this statement.
