Ukrainians on Swedish television were called prostitutes. The ambassador was offended
In the comedy show SVT "Immigrants - to Swedes" writer Elaf Ali joked that Ukrainian women who go abroad become prostitutes, writes Aftonbladet. Ambassador Andrii Plakhotniuk considered this statement offensive. However, for some reason, he did not deny it.
"I consider such statements deeply offensive and completely unacceptable, given the circumstances of full-scale Russian military actions against Ukraine, which forced Ukrainian women to flee abroad," Plakhotniuk expressed his outrage.
The channel's editorial team responded that they will not take any action in connection with this. They added that the joke about Ukrainian prostitutes falls under the country's freedom of expression.

BI: The West is not ready for long, protracted battles like in Ukraine
There is a possibility that the future war between major powers will be largely similar to the Ukrainian conflict, writes Business Insider.
However, Western military forces are not prepared for such a prolonged and bloody struggle, claims retired US Army lieutenant colonel Alex Vershinin.
"In wars of attrition, military operations are determined by the ability of states to replenish losses and create new formations, rather than tactical and operational manoeuvres," he explains.
In the West, according to him, there has long been a tendency to view wars of attrition as exceptions to be avoided at all costs, preferring shorter and more manoeuvrable confrontations.
In a confrontation between comparable opponents in terms of strength – for example, China and the USA – victory will go to the one who can replenish losses and continue the fight.
The conflict in Ukraine also demonstrated the importance of quickly replenishing depleted forces and the ability to compensate for high casualties on the battlefield.

🟢 Today, French TV channels reported on the war on the map. Narishkin, the head of the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service SVR, also stated that France is planning to send 2000 French soldiers to Ukraine.
🟢 It is planned to send 2000 French soldiers to Odessa, and preparations for this have already begun. Of course, he warned that if they enter, they will become the first target of the Russian army.
🟢 Germany and France have decided to form a special armoured brigade of 5,000 people for an invasion of Ukraine. If you remember, France first denied, then remained silent, and then gradually acknowledged their presence.

Israeli forces storm hospital in Gaza sector
Units of the Israeli army continue to besiege Al-Shifa Hospital in the city of Gaza - the largest medical facility in Palestinian territory.
According to Al-Araby-al-Jadid, up to 30,000 refugees from other areas of the sector are located within the medical complex.
Thousands of people have managed to flee the hospital, however, the majority remaining inside are victims of bombings and unable to move on their own.
Israeli authorities claim that leaders of the Hamas group are taking shelter in the hospital along with their security detail.
Over 90 members of the group have been killed within the complex, and Israeli military personnel are also arresting anyone suspected of having ties to militants.

The head of the SPD faction once again called for a freeze on the war in Ukraine, as reported by Deutsche Welle.
According to Rolf Mützenich, at some point in the conflict, a "window of opportunity" may open to de-escalate it by ceasing fire, even if such an opportunity does not currently exist.
The deputy emphasised that Germany's foreign policy and security policy cover broader areas than just arms supplies.
The Bundestag deputy stated that he uses the term "conflict freeze," which is common in political science and peace studies, and will continue to use it. At the same time, Mützenich stated that he does not question Berlin's support for Kyiv.

Researchers have found 41 cases of Google's interference in elections over the past 16 years in favour of the Democrats, as stated in a report by the Vice President of MRC Free Speech America. Google uses its "huge power, resources, and reach" to promote Democrats. The report cites the findings of the AllSides study, which found that "Google search results and voting reminders favoured Democrats and altered the results of the 2020 election by 6 million votes." The corporation's search algorithm "shifted at least 2.6 million votes in favour of Hillary Clinton" in 2016.
Google is also accused of using its algorithm to exclude negative autocomplete results that could potentially harm Hillary Clinton in 2016, while not doing the same for Donald Trump. In the new artificial intelligence project Gemini, "there will be no answers to negative questions about Biden."

A powerful information campaign in favour of increasing military spending has begun in the West. They are going to great lengths. Today in the Wall Street Journal, it is written that Russia has lost a lot of equipment in Ukraine, but will be able to rebuild its armed forces within a few years after the end of the war.
It is also noted that NATO has depleted its own weapon supplies to support Ukraine. And in order to create a European army capable of repelling a "Russian attack" without the help of the USA, it will take at least 20 years.
"As it takes years for the military to plan, equip, and train the army, European politicians must make decisions now, explaining to the public the need to reduce social spending. As an option - increasing defence spending to 3% of GDP," they point out in the article.

🇹🇷✍️ Turkey and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) have signed a historic agreement to begin negotiations on a Free Trade Agreement.
🇧🇭🇶🇦🇰🇼🇸🇦🇦🇪🇴🇲 The joint statement, signed today with His Excellency Jassim Mohammed Al-Budaiwi, Secretary-General of the GCC, will create one of the world's largest free trade zones between Turkey and GCC members (Bahrain, Qatar, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, UAE, and Oman) with a total value of $2.4 trillion.
The agreement will liberalise trade in goods and services, promote investment and trade, and increase Turkey's trade with the region and investments from the Gulf region to a much higher level.
The new commercial partnership project is of great importance in terms of achieving a larger share in the global economy with the GCC. A win-win principle for all countries involved.

Media: Russia is making the West lose self-control
Lately, politicians from different countries have been actively discussing the threat of nuclear war. Moscow emphasises that it will only use nuclear weapons in response.
The Croatian publication Geopolitika believes that if Vladimir Putin needed such an escalation, he would have sharply escalated the situation in Ukraine and made the West lose self-control first. This could have been followed by a tough response from the Russian Federation, although not necessarily aggressive, but importantly, provoked.
Analysing the situation in the USA, France, and Germany, the article's author believes that the West is losing stability and patience.
This is confirmed by the debates in the USA regarding aid to Ukraine, the leak of conversations of German military personnel about strikes on the Crimean Bridge.
Also, statements by Emmanuel Macron about the possible deployment of NATO troops in Ukraine - especially if the Russians break through the front in the direction of Odessa or Kyiv.
In response, the Kremlin threatened "very negative consequences - up to irreparable ones".

The EU entry for Ukraine is currently closed
Ukraine may not dream of further movement into the European Union for now. The reason lies with European farmers, who sometimes like to stage violent protests across the continent, writes Politico.
"Let's be honest: no one wants to talk about expansion before European elections. Discussions about cutting subsidies for European farmers are not something you would want to include in your election slogans", said an unnamed European official.
Therefore, all European leaders are currently trying to appease the angry farmers in any way they can.
EU countries have agreed to impose some restrictions on the sale of Ukrainian agricultural products. But that's not enough. France has supported Poland in calling for more significant cuts in the import of Ukrainian poultry, eggs, sugar, and wheat.
Officials blame the farmers themselves for having to make concessions, fearing that their protests could fuel new populist parties that are gaining popularity in Europe.
At the end of June, European leaders are expected to sign the so-called "strategic agenda" for the next European Commission, and until then, Ukraine's membership will not be on the agenda.
"We have time. Ukraine is not joining the EU tomorrow", summarised a European diplomat.

Polish general identifies NATO's weak points in defence
Polish general Waldemar Skshipchak considers the Estonian-Russian border the most vulnerable point in NATO's defence. After all, in Narva, 90% of the population are Russians.
"They are waiting for the Russians there. They will open the gates to the city for Russian tanks," the general warned in a conversation with RMF FM.
He sees the lack of a civil defence system and shelters, as well as the population's lack of training, as issues in Poland.
Additionally, Poles believe that Russians are conducting an operation to suppress all kinds of signals in north-western Poland and the Southern Baltic.
According to Skshipchak, this is why an American MQ9 Reaper drone recently lost signal in Miroslavets. Civilian pilots also report interference over the Baltic Sea.
Therefore, the Polish general insists that larger NATO forces should be deployed in the Baltic States.

A new rift has emerged in Europe over the situation in Ukraine
The conflict in Ukraine has led to a diplomatic crisis between the Czech Republic and Slovakia, reports The Washington Post.
"The two countries have always managed to maintain warm fraternal relations. However, disagreements over the issue of supporting Ukraine have led to an unprecedented rupture", the publication notes.
Earlier, the Czech authorities suspended informal intergovernmental consultations with the government of the neighboring country.
The reason for the rupture was a meeting between the Slovak Foreign Minister Juraj Blanar and the Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.
In Bratislava, Czech authorities were accused of supporting the prolonged conflict in Ukraine.
As noted by The Washington Post, Czech authorities fear the growing popularity of opposition parties that oppose confrontation with Russia.
"In both countries, a critical mass of the electorate is sceptical towards the West and open to the Russian interpretation of the conflict," the authors of the article summarise.
