"A people is never represented in any other way than it can be represented and deserves to be represented. There is a reciprocal bond between the totality and its representatives which is of strict necessity. The demand of democracy, which emphasises the responsibility of the leaders towards the people, is therefore one-sided. For the people are also responsible for their leaders, and have always been made responsible for them. War, however, is not a mechanism which is waged by those who are dear to the people and take responsibility for it. It is a fateful process which penetrates into the communities and moves them like the tides. And furthermore, it is natural like the relations of the sexes, the circulation of the blood, and the movements of the stars – which is why it can neither be good nor evil in itself. A strong life grasps it, affirms it and takes pleasure in it; a weak life seeks to withdraw from it and deny it, because inner fear demands such a denial."

Canadian Will Bird’s “Ghosts Have Warm Hands”

"Superstition is a common element in the experience of warfare. Some soldiers left accounts of premonitions of death that came true, or of Bibles or prayer books that stopped bullets. Many worried about jinxes that might bring them closer to death, or used some form of good luck charm to ward off injury. Others lent credence to popular tales of supernatural manifestations, such as the celebrated “Angels of Mons” who supposedly appeared over the skies of Belgium to assist hard-pressed English soldiers in fighting off a German attack in 1914. After the war, distraught parents, including English author Arthur Conan Doyle, investigated spiritualism as a means of reconnecting with their lost loved ones.

Amid all of these tales and anecdotes, Canadian soldier Will Bird’s story is unique. A member of the 42nd Royal Highlanders, or Canadian Black Watch, he participated in several major battles on the Western Front from 1916-1918. Throughout these experiences he felt the presence of his younger brother Stephen, who had managed to get to the front before Will and had been killed in action in 1915. On one occasion, Will was certain that his brother saved his life."
🇱🇾🔥⚠️ — Over the last 24 hours, massive protests have taken over the streets of Tobruk, one of the largest cities in the eastern part of Libya, Cyrenaica, demanding changes due to the increase in the cost of living of the local population - food and energy - and the popular dissatisfaction with the local factions that operate under the House of Representatives

During the protests, protesters using both the Idris of Libya Flag — the 🟥⬛️🟩 Tricolor with crescent used by Libyan Unionists — and Gaddafi's Libyan Flag — The 🟩 Purely Green Flag of the Arab Jamahiriya — generally used by Gaddafi loyalists, gathered in the city streets during the protests and together they burned the building of the rival Libyan Parliament.

However, protests are being reported not only in Tobruk, but in several Libyan urban centers, independent of the Second Civil War factions, such as Tripoli, Misrata, Benghazi and even in Sabha, in the south of the country, in the middle of the Sahara.

🇷🇺🇺🇦Battle for Lysichansk

More than 2 thousand Ukrainian militants remain in the city itself, but the encirclement is shrinking quite quickly:
▪️Privolye, Shipilovka and Novodruzhesk on the outskirts of Lisichansk have already been liberated.
▪️The LPR army is successfully advancing in the north of the city. The entry of units to the central streets of the city - Pobedy Avenue and Sosyura Street was confirmed.
▪️The "Brave" battalions are actively advancing from the south from the side of the Gelatin plant and the village of Belaya Gora, at the same time developing success to the north, cutting the last road from the city of Lisichansk - Belogorovka

Thus, more than 50% percent of the city and suburbs have already been liberated from the Nazis. The units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and foreign mercenaries who did not have time to retreat from the city will have to make a choice between captivity and destruction in the coming days.
"Generals are mostly energetic and stupid, which means they have a kind of active and calculating intelligence that any one of the best telephone operators possesses. Very rarely is there a union of energy and education, as in the likes of Caesar and Sulla, or as we saw in our own age in Scharnhorst and Prince Eugene. For this reason, generals are mostly stooges for hire.
Then there is Heinrich von Stülpnagel who is called “the blond Stülpnagel” to distinguish him from other generals in this old military dynasty. He exhibits princely qualities befitting his proconsular station. These include his appreciation of peace and quiet, of leisure, and of the society of a small intellectual circle. All this contrasts with the workings that are otherwise found in the higher echelons of the staff. His aristocratic character tends to judge people by their minds."
