This is a symbolic victory for the US Government more than anything Al Zawahri was already in poor health and probably had others filling in his positions. That not even mentioning the fact how the US and NATO has used Al Qaeda affiliated groups to do there dirty work in countries like Syria and Libya.

What Leadership Type will Succeed Al-Qaeda’s al-Zawahiri?
Questions of succession loom large for al-Qaeda. By most accounts, al-Qaeda leader Dr. Ayman al-Zawahiri is alive, but in poor health, and thus questions of succession loom large for the group.
In all seriousness, it should be obvious that war isn't about assassinating diplomats to create a spectacle for the masses. Attacking Pelosi would have accomplished nothing but give the US what it wanted: a diplomatic catastrophe and an excuse to escalate the war.
China will almost certainly respond in other ways, which is the smart move. Won't say this means an ultimate move on Taiwan, it could happen, but I think slow and steady is still the best play for Russia/China. If it ain't broke...

🇷🇺 The only one who benefited from today's air show over the Taiwan Strait is the Kremlin.
Unlike China, Russia was not afraid to enter into a fierce geopolitical and military battle with the United States of America. The whole world perceives the Ukrainian war in this way.
In the long run, Russia will benefit from any development of the Taiwan story.
If China retreats again, which is more than likely, Russia will receive the status of the undisputed leader of the "alternative" world, capable, and more importantly, ready to use force where it considers it fundamental and important for itself. For thirty years only the United States could afford it.
Around this strengthened leadership, Russia will build new geopolitical configurations and balances of power in various regions of the world - from Central Europe, Transcaucasia to West and Central Africa.
If China does not back down and starts an open political and economic confrontation with the United States, this will ease the pressure on Russia. “There won’t be enough Himars for everyone” —

Ukrainian Fighting Tactics Endanger Civilians
Ukrainian forces have put civilians in harm’s way by establishing bases and operating weapons systems in populated residential areas, including in schools and hospitals, as they repelled the Russian invasion that began in February, Amnesty International said…
"Democratic sentiments? I hate democracy as I do the plague – besides, the democratic ideal of an army would be one consisting entirely, not of Fahnenjunker, but of officers with lax discipline and great personal liberty. For my taste, on the contrary, and for that of young Germans in general today, an army could not be too iron, too dictatorial, and too absolute – but if it is to be so, then there must be a system of promotion that is not sheltered behind any sort of privilege, but opened up to the keenest competition."

"Less Drag Queens, More Chuck Norris": Orban Rocks CPAC Texas
"I can already see tomorrow’s headlines: Far-right European racist, anti-Semite strongman — the Trojan horse of Putin — holds speech at the conservative conference," he said, to applause and laughter. "They did not want me to be here, and they made every effort to drive a wedge between us. They hate me and slander me and my country as they hate you and slander you," Orban continued.
