Difficult to prove who could be behind this, but worth remembering that it follows the escalations in Crimea.

Regarding Strelkov and claims of a power struggle in Russia.
Remember to do your research before accepting any take, even in dissident circles. Oftentimes what you find is worse than the news.
"[Strelkov] tried to cross the border using a forged passport in the name of Serhii Viktorovych Runov, which he used to work for the special services. But he was recognized, detained and sent to Simferopol."
While a power struggle is possible in Russia, it's less likely than in the West. And to say that Strelkov's arrest was due to a power struggle is blatant distortion of the news to push the reddit nationalist narrative.

Girkin (Strelkov) arrested earlier this week, now Darya assassinated (Dugin may have been the target, but we can’t be sure). Things are not well on the good ship Muscovy. We’re witnessing the effects of an elite power struggle from afar.

It’s not that anyone expects us to shed more tears over Dugina than any other person killed because of the war. It’s more that this whole thing where Zog is reduced to trying to blow up not overly influential Russian philosophers with car bombs or IEDs is yet another illustration of how shameless, morally bankrupt and desperate they are. What is the military value of Alexander Dugin? You can’t even say that NATO accidentally killed a women while trying to go after some actual military target. They murdered a philosophers daughter while trying to murder a philosopher who was no military value what so ever.
Again it’s not matter of anyone insisting you cry more for Dugins daughter than any other civilian who has been killed/murdered. It’s that if you are missing the symbolism here you are missing the actual story. If the Russians had say blown up Francis Fukuyamas daughter while trying to kill Francis Fukuyama we would all be saying “WTF this is just retarded what were the Russians even thinking”. Well the CIA/M16/whoever just did that. It’s Telegraphing just how stupid, shameless, lost and totally bankrupt the Western side is here.

Though we have our disagreements with Alexandr Dugin, which we will make no reference to here, there is no amount of disagreement that can justify any other emotion than grief and solidarity at this new. The shock, pain, and disorientation a father must innevitably feel at having his daugther taken from him in such a brutal and unexpected way, especially as he was present at the scene as it unfolded, is more than worthy of our sympathies and condolences.
Rest your soul, Daria Dugina, we pray for you, and for your father, that he may find the strength to grieve you well.

“Man, I want everything in the world for Ukraine to win this. I want Ukraine to get its pre-2014 borders back. But do I think that’s tenable? No. You can’t sustain a war by crowdfunding forever.” https://thegrayzone.com/2022/08/18/ukraine-veterans-us-aid-soldiers-war/

Ukraine war veterans on how Kiev plundered US aid, wasted soldiers, endangered civilians, and lost the war - The Grayzone
"The weapons are stolen, the humanitarian aid is stolen, and we have no idea where the billions sent to this country have gone,” a Ukrainian complained to The Grayzone. In a video sent via Facebook messenger in July, Ivan* can be seen standing next to his…

"To deal with assassinations from a more general perspective, I was prompted in the course of studying history to view assassinations as attempts to change the course of history by means that are inappropriate to it, elementary means. That is why the results of most assassinations are the direct opposite of what the conspirators intended: thus, they harm themselves, independently of the personal risk they run. That was true of the Fieschi plot, which you are, no doubt, acquainted with. Fieschi built an infernal machine to kill Louis-Philippe and his escort. He set up thirty guns parallel with one another, and a few exploded, ripping off his hand. But that was merely a secondary mishap. In any case, the event helped to shore up Louis-Philippe's administration for another fifteen years. The same could be said about the attempt on Lenin's life: it led to a huge massacre in the educated circles and did more good than harm to Bolshevism. In fact, I have the impression that when the ruling power begins to get shaky, it welcomes such assassination attempts. Nevertheless, we have to make distinctions. Harmodius and Aristogiton, for instance, are of a different format."

"The primary and most honorable goal of new nationalism is precisely a strong state power of a strictly authoritarian type. Next, the foremost duty of the nationalistic state will be the creation of a powerful army, equipped with the most modern technical means."
