i have a theory that the whole "clean girl" aesthetic is heavily perpetuated by conservatives and alt-right. because if we take make up as a form of self-expression, then make up that doesnt look like it is just a way to look socially more desirable. but i cant prove it or provide clearer arguments, just thinking out loud. yall can also prove me wrong too.

(of course, im not condemning anyone for liking that aesthetic, my brain just connected two things which appeared at around the same time in the recent timeline)
