جفری وودریج، استاد اقتصاد دانشگاه ایالتی میشیگان که کتاب‌هایش در حوزه اقتصاد سنجی بسیار مشهور است، ضمن انتشار کارنامه آزمون GRE خودش نوشت:

Exhibit A for imposter syndrome. I’ll spare you exhibits B, C, D and so on. I suppose there’s more than one possible takeaway.
If I hadn't taken PhD econometrics that same quarter and done well, who knows what would've happened? Probably would've had to take a job at Microsoft with my CS degree and I'd now be holding $25 million in Microsoft stock.

🔆 وودریج در ادامه اینطور توضیح می‌دهد:

◾️I'm not taking a stand on the usefulness of the GREs as predictors of success. I think they have nontrivial predictive power. My modest scores reveal I have some cognitive holes. Anyone who's met me knows that. On the other hand, the R^2 is much less than one.

◾️I pulled my scores out a few years ago because I'd been asked, while teaching short courses out of the U.S., about the importance of the GRE. The students assumed I'd aced mine. Clearly not. And my SAT scores coming out of high school were even worse.

◾️I was from a lower middle class family but privileged to have grown up in California when I did. I'd never get into U.C. Berkeley now. Back then there was a grid, and my high school GPA was enough to get me into a U.C. campus. Berkeley was 15 miles from home -- lucky me.

◾️Tuition at Berkeley was almost zero. I owe the California taxpayers. Getting into UCSD with a full fellowship was much easier in 1982 than it is now. Every place is now much more competitive. I never tell younger people how tough things where in the old days. It's the opposite.

🔆بازار سهام حرف می‌زنه!!!

◾️Fifteen years before Fama conducted “the original event study” in 1969, Armen A. Alchian was pioneering financial event studies in his spare time.

◾️در سال 1954 میلادی، دکتر Armen A. Alchian که در RAND مشغول به کار بود در خصوص سوخت بمب هیدروژنی که به تازگی آزمایش شده بود کنجکاو شد. او این سوال را از Herman Kahn بنیانگذار موسسه Hudson -که آن روزها در RAND مشغول به کار بود- پرسید اما به او گفتند این موضوع محرمانه است.
سپس آلمن الچین با بررسی قیمت سهام صنایع فلزی متوجه شد که قیمت سهام مرتبط با لیتیوم به طرز شگفت‌انگیزی بالا رفته است!
الچین در این مورد مقاله‌ای نوشت اما با وی تماس گرفتند و مقاله‌اش را تهدیدی برای امنیت ملی دانستند و آن را حذف کردند.
