The SVALBARD is an area north of Norway in the Arctic Ocean. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Svalbard
The current Svalbard ice level is above average from charts for the period 1991-2020 and right on the median line from Satellite imagery.
Arctic Sea Ice has picked up somewhat from lows a few years ago however has trended downwards since 1979 when the monitoring began.
Antarctic Sea Ice is currently LOW but overall since 1981 has held pretty much level, slight mass gain.

Media? Hello? Have you noticed yet that media only reports on the highs but won’t tell you about all the cold records being broken… or about the fact that cooling is actually far more dangerous (cold kills significantly more people than heat)
Do note also that ice levels are affected not only by temperatures but by ocean and wind currents.
It’s very nuanced and complex and there are many cogs to this machine. It’s all too easy to pull out a few statistics and use them to make whatever story you want - but when you zoom out and take in more data, you can get a more balanced view.
