Late last month the office of the United Nation’s Secretary General published a policy document on aims for the future of the internet.
A follow-up to the 2021 report “Our Common Agenda”, the new report’s noscript says it all really, “A Global Digital Compact”. That’s the goal, international legislation that would seek to control and enforce the use of digital technology.
The proposed clauses promote everything you’d expect them to promote.

It is the first time the crows did not come in the morning. Under the red sun and yellow skies. In the forty years I have been here it was the first morning I did not hear their loud impatience.
The air did not smell of the smoke of the northern wildfires but of an acrid dusty taste, not quite plastic burning or electrical. Not really ozone either for I’ve smelled that before once but I can’t remember when or where. It just did not smell of wood smoke.

The breaking news from Russia today is that Yevgeny Prigozhin, founder and leader of the Wagner mercenary group, has “declared war on Russia’s military leadership”.
Allegedly, Wagner units have started moving eastwards from Ukraine toward Moscow, taking the city of Rostov-on-Don.
According to various reports from Western media outlets, the FSB has already opened criminal proceedings against Prigozhin.

Our descent into City Airport was like the drop-ship scene in the movie Aliens. The BA CityFlyer Embraer 190, a narrow-body twin-engine airliner, rolled over into a 40-degree bank and started bucking like a mechanical bull. Simulated “chimes” began chiming frantically. Flight attendants bolted for their seats.
The German businessman in the seat beside me, obviously a nervous flyer, immediately adopted the “brace” position. I gripped his shoulder reassuringly and shouted into his ear like a drunken redneck, “WE’RE ON AN EXPRESS ELEVATOR TO HELL! GOING DOWN!”

I hesitated to write this piece for two reasons: I’m not a member of the 2SLGBTQI* community and therefore do not know the experience and most importantly because this whole issue is a terribly divisive issue. Those who would prosper from pain are very good at divide and conquer.

These events were supposedly set in motion the death of Nahel Merzouk, an Algerian-French teenager shot by police after a car chase in Parisian suburb of Nanterre.
More specifically, when a “leaked” video that slightly contradicted the police’s version of events went “viral”, people took to streets, protesting the perceived violence and corruption of the police.
