The 'success' of Estonia's e-gov services doesn't mean it's the correct model for the UK where choice, transparency and trust vastly differ between nations.

If an attacker is able to successfully retrieve a victims recovery/reset SMS passcodes for e.g. One Login or another government service, the attacker could then basically control the victims online govt account[s] without ever touching the physical device.

If the UK Government really cared about the welfare of newborns and their parents, they would not introduce such a system that would be an open invitation for cybercriminals, also considering how high the UK ranks in Europe and the rest of the world when it comes to cybersecurity incidents.
