"I can understand the impatience of my friends who would like to learn as much as possible as soon as possible. However, the interest of the total work requires the interpolation of several years between the time a finding is made and its publication. This is an automatic safeguard against theoretical blunders. From the very beginning of orgone research it has proven valuable not to publish a new finding until it has developed into an essential new insight. The continued development to a new insight is a confirmation of the previous finding"
~ Wilhelm Reich in the introduction to Orgonotic Pulsation, The differentiation of orgone energy from electromagnetism ~ Presented in talks with an electrophysicist, International Journal for Sex-Economy and Orgone Research Vol. III, reprinted in Orgonomic Functionalism # 3, pp. 20-21
"Orgone biophysics will not first gain social recognition in the realm of biology, but in the realms of biopsychiatry and physics... [Why?] This question can be answered in a few sentences: Biology, apart from vitalism, has an essentially mechanistic orientation. Orgone biophysics operates functionally--in the experiment, its interpretation, and in the formulation of theories. Classical biology finds itself in a tragic dilemma. On the one hand, it deals with living processes which it considers sharply delineated from nonliving nature. On the other hand, and simultaneously, it attempts to comprehend the life principle by way of methods and concepts which are taken entirely from physics and chemistry, that is, the sciences concerned with nonliving nature. Orgone biophysics finds itself at the opposite pole. First, it assumes the existence of fluid transitions from the realm of nonliving to that of living nature. Second, it dispenses, of necessity, with the mechanistic physical conception of living processes. It demonstrates a specific biological energy which governs all living processes on the basis of simple natural laws. This energy, called orgone, governs living as well as purely natural mechanical laws. The functions of this energy make comprehensible the manner in which living matter develops from nonliving matter, that is, the process of biogenesis."

"Historians of the scientific thought of ancient Greece have paid considerable attention to the atomic School and have analysed the origins, basic notions and trends of the theories of Leucippos, Democritos, and Epicuros and also investigated their influence on later generations. Among the reasons for the prominence which has been been given to the Greek atomic theory, the three most important are the following: the striking similarity between some of the Greek concepts, based entirely on intuition, and those of the modern theory which have been confirmed by experience; the conclusions which the Greeks drew from their assumptions by applying methods of scientific inference; and finally, the appeal which the epistemology of the ancient atomists has for the scientists of our own atomic age.
"The fact that atomism has gradually come into the foreground during the last hundred years must certainly be counted among the main reasons for the neglect of Stoic Physics, a physics entirely based on the continuum concept. Even more important is the small number of extant Stoic writings and the low esteem in which some of their teachings were held by prominent historians of Greek philosophy, such as Prantl and Zeller [Cf. Mates, Stoic Logic (Berkeley, 1953), pp. 86 ff.] The scope of Stoic contributions in the field of logic and the significance of their advance from the standpoint of Aristotle have become common knowledge with the work of Lukasiewicz and Mates. Although physics played a much less important role than logic in the Stoic philosophy, they developed a highly original and consistent system of physical concepts and applied it to the whole body of their teachings. In these we find anticipated basic ideas which have governed physical thought since the seventeenth century, and in spite of the fragmentary nature of the relevant sources, the outlines of a deeply conceived and well-elaborated continuum theory applied to the physical world are clearly evident. The essential feature of their theory is the dynamic notion of the concept of continuity which makes the Stoic doctrine one of the great original contributions in the history of physical systems, transcending by its implications the boundaries of pure physical thought and anticipating in many respects the approach to continuity which dominated the scientific ideas of Descartes, Huygens, Faraday and Maxwell. The dynamic continuum not only had profound influence on the epistemology in the Hellenistoc period, but it also moulded some of the basic ideas in the later teachings of Stoic ethics. Moreover, it led the older Stoa already to a first grasp of the modern mathematical notions of the function and the limit and so constitutes the first break through of the barriers of the merely static contemplation of mathematical quantities."
~ Samuel Sambursky, The Physics of the Stoics, 1959, p. vii
"...the Boston City Hospital internship. I had come to the service as a pup when Ingelfinger, who had graduated from Harvard a year earlier, was the Senior, nine months ahead of me and, therefore, my boss. Our relationship began, and continued, with him giving orders and me carrying them out. But there was more to it. Going through the City Hospital internship in those days was something like combat on a disorganized battlefield, and we became close friends. Ingelfinger was, among other things, a born teacher, and he set about teaching me everything he knew, from the moment I turned up in his ward in my new white suit. There were a great many small skills to be learned -- how to put together a makeshift oxygen tent when the proper parts were missing, how to bring a new oxygen tank to a patient's bedside from the outer corridor where the things were stored (they were much too heavy to carry, and what you did was to tilt them over at exactly the right angle and then run down the ward behind them, sliding them along the waxed floor), how to wash out the stomach of someone in a coma, how to get a needle into an invisible vein, and so forth. Evenings we would sit around his room or mine, waiting for calls from the emergency room, playing records. Ingelfinger knew more about Mozart than I did, and couldn't stop teaching even then: he loved to put a record on, play it for a second or so, then lift the needle and challenge me to identify the phrase and its location. I was on duty Christmas Eve in 1937, and Ingelfinger was off, due in the next morning at seven. It was a quiet night on the wards. I tacked a note on his door to greet him, a Christmas card:

"Of Christmas joy I am the bringer.
I bring good news to Ingelfinger.
Though many turned in bed and cried,
Nobody died, nobody died."
~ Lewis Thomas, The Youngest Science, Notes of a Medicine Watcher, 1983, pp. 241-242
"The Civil War gave the courthouse squares of America their most common landmark -- a statue of an infantryman leaning on a musket. In Dixie, he usually wears a wide brimmed-hat; in the North, a jaunty forage cap. In both North and South, his pedestal bears the names of comrades who did not come back from Bull Run, Gettysburg, or the Wilderness. But a remarkable thing about these monuments is the number of soon-to-be prominent men who managed to avoid taking any chance that their names might be carved there. Jim Fisk, Jay Gould, Pierpont Morgan, Collis Huntington, Andrew Carnegie, and John D. Rockefeller were all of military age during the war, but they were too busy negotiating fat contracts and hatching speculative deals to follow the fife and drum into battle."

"It is with sorrow that we note the death of James DeMeo, PhD, a researcher and teacher of Reich’s work for more than 40 years. As a student in the Geography Department at the University of Kansas, DeMeo demonstrated significant effects on rainfall from use of a cloudbuster, resulting in his 1979 Masters thesis “Preliminary Analysis of Changes in Kansas Weather Coincidental to Experimental Operations with a Reich Cloudbuster,” which he self-published as a book in 2010. His subsequent work on a hypothesis about the origins of human armoring in the same department led to his 1986 PhD dissertation, expanded and published in 1998 as Saharasia: The 4000 BCE Origins of Child Abuse, Sex-Repression, Warfare and Social Violence, In the Deserts of the Old World. DeMeo published an orgonomic journal, Pulse of the Planet for a number of years beginning in 1989. An enlarged issue of this was published in 2002 under the noscript Heretics’ Notebook."

"It is with sorrow that we note the death of James DeMeo, PhD, a researcher and teacher of Reich’s work for more than 40 years. An enlarged issue of this was published in 2002 under the noscript Heretics’ Notebook. Most recently, in 2019, he published an extended historical study, The Dynamic Ether of Cosmic Space.

DeMeo started an independent research and teaching lab, Orgone Biophysical Research Laboratory in 1979, from which until his death he continued research and teaching on bion experiments, the effects of the orgone accumulator (e.g., on plant growth), weather modification using the cloudbuster (e.g., in the American southwest), and other related subjects. He was hired during droughts in Greece, Eritrea and other places to use the cloudbuster in attempts to produce rain and achieved some noted successes. He described much of this work in a talk at the 2007 International Conference on Orgonomy in Rangeley, Maine sponsored by the Wilhelm Reich Museum"

"Obviously the nuclear theory and the vortex theory cannot both be true. Since the proponents of the nuclear theory have already presented their theory to the public boldly as though it were a known fact, it is all the more incumbent upon the author to present his vortex theory modestly as a mere hypothesis. But even with this modest interpretation, it has been persistently denied recognition by the accredited scientific magazines. The author has tried long and patiently to obtain publication of it through the usual channels in order that the public might acquire free use of the same, but without success. It is of course conceded that our scientific magazines have the right to accept or reject any theory according to their best judgement, but they do not have the right to present their highly speculative and unproved nuclear theory to the public in a tone of absolute certainty, as though the existence of the atomic nucleus were a known fact. The public is ennoscriptd to correct information as to what is mere theory and what is fact. The dogmatic manner in which nuclear theory is being thrust upon the public by our "highly ethical" scientific magazines is neither scientific nor ethical. It is typical of the sort of pseudo-science which usually prevails wherever there is "no conflict" between science and religion."

The Journal of Orgonomy has been published semi-annually by the American College of Orgonomy Press since 1967. The Journal contains a rich collection of articles that follow developments in the sciences of medical, social and physical orgonomy, and there are many case studies describing the treatment of individual patients with medical orgone therapy. Other articles address how orgonomic principles can be applied to everyday life and its challenges such as raising healthy children, teen drug use, and love, marital and work relationships. The articles are written so that they are accessible to medical and non-medical audiences alike and give readers a point of view that is as unique as it is valuable.
