We are thrilled to be sharing staking economics details with our community!
First thing first, and the answer to the most asked question is, Minimum number of Matic tokens to apply on mainchain to be a validator would be 1.5mn MATIC !! If you want to be a validator, you should start preparing for the same now.

In order to inform our community of the upcoming staking specifics, we are releasing a detailed article outlining incentives, staking rewards, validator information and more.

As a Layer-2 solution utilizing a network of Proof-of-Stake validators for asset security, staking is an integral part of the Matic ecosystem. Validators will stake their MATIC tokens as collateral to become part off the network’s PoS consensus mechanism.

All the details shared are tentative as of now and are subject to change based on the feedback received.

The community will also be given the opportunity to take part in our incentivised testing program, the details of which will be rolled out soon.

U.S. law enforcement has charged Steven Nerayoff, an early supporter of the ethereum project and a former paid advisor to Overstock’s tZero, with extortion.

Nerayoff is also the co-founder of Casper Labs.
However, his name was missing from the company’s team page as of Wednesday evening.

What Is Quantum Supremacy, and Why Is It Such a Computing Milestone?

For the moment, the public-private key encryption techniques on which bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies are based cannot be broken by a quantum computer. But Google's researchers, in their paper, predict that quantum computing power will continue to advance at a "double exponential rate," so those bitcoins may not be safe for all that much longer.

The 53-qubit quantum computer can break any 53-bit cryptography in seconds, meaning Bitcoin’s 256-bit encryption is vulnerable once Google scales its quantum computing to 256 qubits, something their own scientists say will be possible by 2022.

We have created a four-part series about Plasma and Matic’s own variation through its More Viable Plasma (MoreVP), an account-based implementation of the scalability model.

Ethereum’s shortcomings came to the spotlight during the 2017 ICO bubble where high transaction volumes increased gas prices and caused excessive network congestion.

It was made apparent that scalability was a key factor in stagnating mass adoption.

Matic Network took it upon themselves to develop a framework towards an account-based plasma.

Throughout this series, we will cover Ethereum, the development of Plasma, how Matic Network is leading scalability solutions, and more.

Matic introduces Plasma Predicates - one step towards generalized Plasma

We have been working hard on various fronts to introduce generalised scaling techniques, while still ensuring security. We are therefore proud to announce that Matic will support Plasma Predicates in our upcoming release.

This is the first time predicates are being used in a production-ready system & we couldn’t be more excited to be pioneering its implementation.

Implementing Plasma predicates allows us to now deploy newer state transition support to our Plasma contracts, without having to re-deploy our existing root contracts.

Now devs can add new Plasma functionality by creating a new contract that implements the necessary logic for that feature and then have our main contract reference the new one. These external contracts are called ‘predicates’.

Introducing Heimdall and Bor - Matic’s Validator and Block Production layers

Matic Network is a hybrid Plasma + Proof-of-Stake (PoS) platform that uses a dual-consensus architecture to optimize for speed and decentralization. We have been actively working on the Validator and Block Producer nodes iteration, which will be released in the upcoming Beta mainnet.

Heimdall, meaning ‘the All-Protector’ is our Proof-of-Stake Verifier layer, which is responsible for checkpointing a representation of the Plasma blocks to the main chain in our architecture.

The Bor node, or the Block Producer implementation, is the sidechain operator which is EVM-compatible. Block Producers are chosen from the Validator set and are shuffled using historical Ethereum block hashes. However we are exploring sources of randomness for this selection.

We are excited to be rolling out these crucial components of our network in our upcoming Beta mainnet release!

Matic and Axie Infinity are hosting a hackathon together for developers to build Axie based games on Matic sidechains.

We are thrilled to announce that we are teaming up with Axie Infinity, one of the biggest games in the blockchain gaming space, to accelerate the adoption of decentralized gaming!

Together we will be co-hosting India’s first ever blockchain gaming hackathon, taking place in Bangalore. Budding blockchain developers will battle over $4000 of bounty prizes by #BUIDLing awesome gaming hacks on our infrastructure.

There are also many developers already building games using the Axie platform on Matic Network, which will continue to increase as we push ahead with our mutual adoption efforts.
