Elon Musk seems to be running a campaign of support for far-right political parties in Europe, extending his influence beyond electoral processes and regional discussions in the United States and Latin America.

While the AfD has attempted to publicly rebrand itself as a “conservative libertarian” party, its program firmly positions it on the extreme right of the political spectrum.

Álvaro Uribe, former Colombian president, calls for military invasion of Venezuela. President Maduro challenges him to lead the war himself.

“What we want, what we advocate, is an international military intervention to end the dictatorship,” said the former Colombian president before a cheering crowd. In his speech, he took the opportunity to express his support for González Urrutia and María Corina Machado, who, according to Uribe, are “the universal champions of democracy”.

‼️🇵🇸CEASEFIRE AND CAPTIVES-FOR-PRISONERS SWAP DEAL REACHED BETWEEN ISRAEL AND HAMAS

After 15 months of genocide, the Qatari Prime Minister confirmed in a press conference that a ceasefire deal has finally been reached. The ceasefire will take effect this Sunday, January 19, and the deal will put an end to Israel’s non-stop genocidal attacks on the Palestinian people in Gaza. During the last 15 months, at least 47,000 Palestinians were killed in Israeli attacks - the real number is likely much higher as there are still tens of thousands of people missing under the rubble.

The deal consists of three phases and each phase will have different stipulations regarding the halt in attacks, the release of Israeli captives for Palestinian prisoners, the withdrawal of Israeli forces from certain regions and corridors, an increase in humanitarian aid trucks entering the strip, and the eventual re-opening of border crossings. The guarantors of the agreement are Qatar, Egypt, and the United States.

The Israeli cabinet and government will meet tomorrow to vote on the agreement.

Celebrations erupted across Gaza as news of the deal broke.

#PeoplesHistory | 🚩🌹Today we remember communist leaders, Rosa Luxemburg and Karl Liebknecht who were summarily executed by the Freikorps, on January 15, 1919.

They were assassinated in response to the Spartacist Uprising against the government of Social Democratic Party of Germany (SPD). The recently founded Communist Party of Germany (KPD) led by Luxemburg and Liebknecht started the uprising with the aim of setting up a workers’ republic. However, the rebellion was brutally suppressed and Luxemburg and Liebknecht were executed.

Even if “Iran is not in a position to pick a fight with anyone,” as US Secretary of State Blinken put it, Iran will not collapse before the combined might of the United States and Israel.

Journalist Sam Husseini was dragged out of the State Department briefing room by security personnel during a briefing led by US Secretary of State Antony Blinken. Blinken was delivering remarks about the ceasefire deal that was reached in Gaza and was interrupted multiple times by reporters, including Husseini, demanding he respond to their questions regarding US support to Israel and Israel’s military policies.
Videos of the dramatic scene wherein Husseini, sitting quietly, is manhandled and dragged out of the room have circulated widely, even on cable news station CNN. According to Husseini himself, before security grabbed him, he had asked Blinken about the Hannibal Directive, a controversial Israeli military policy which aims to prevent the capture of Israeli soldiers “by all means”, including by killing their own people.

🇨🇩#PeopleHistory | Today, on the anniversary of his brutal assassination, we remember the Congolese Pan-Africanist and African Liberation Fighter Patrice Lumumba.

Lumumba was a leader of the Congolese struggle for independence and the newly liberated country’s first prime minister. Within ten weeks of being elected, Lumumba’s government was deposed in a coup and he was imprisoned. From prison Lumumba wrote a letter to his wife Pauline. He said, “The day will come when history will speak. But it will not be the history which will be taught in Brussels, Paris, Washington or the United Nations. It will be the history which will be taught in the countries which have won freedom from colonialism and its puppets. Africa will write its own history and in both north and south it will be a history of glory and dignity.”

His brutal assassination on January 17, 1961 was carried out in collusion with the CIA, Belgium, France, and England.

As Pan Africanism Today wrote, “On this day, January 17, let us remember Patrice Lumumba's unwavering dedication to the struggle for the Congo's political and economic independence. His vision of a united, free, and prosperous Africa remains an inspiration to all people struggling against the shackles of imperialism and colonialism - from the Congo to Palestine and beyond.”
