“The situation is not good. The killings continue in areas controlled by M23. It’s very difficult for civilians as there is no humanitarian assistance now, as many people have run because of war, and their homes including displacement camps have been destroyed. The humanitarian situation is very bad, and crimes against civilians and the minerals of the country continue to be robbed, even in areas where the Congolese army is in control.”

Steward Muhindo, a member of Congolese civil society organization LUCHA, described the dire conditions faced by civilians in dialogue with Peoples Dispatch.

#PeoplesHistory | On this day, we honor Yuri Gagarin—the Soviet cosmonaut who made history as the first human in space. Amid the Cold War’s fierce space race, his triumph wasn’t just a scientific leap; it was a victory for the Communist project, proving its potential to the world.

Gagarin himself tied his achievement to the collective strength of the socialist system:

"I am very happy and extremely grateful to our Party and our government for entrusting me with this flight. I carried out this flight in the name of our country, in the name of the whole heroic Soviet nation, in the name of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union and its Leninist Central Committee."

With their pensions not even covering food or medicine, protesters warn: "We can't eat. And it's not a joke. It's not a slogan. It's not a phrase. We can't eat! We can't make ends meet or buy medicine."

Israeli officials have invited European far-right parties to participate in an antisemitism conference held in Jerusalem.

Among those present are French MEPs Jordan Bardella, leader of the National Rally, and Marion Maréchal of Identity-Liberties, joined by delegates from far-right formations in Spain, Sweden, Hungary, and the Netherlands. While no invitation has been extended to the Alternative for Germany or Austria’s Freedom Party this time, recent signals from Israeli officials suggest that rapprochement with these groups is not completely off the table.

🇺🇸🇨🇳Liberals in the US clamor to defend a "democracy" dominated by corporations and weapons manufacturers. Is this really the model for the world?

Beijing-based Brazilian journalist Mauro Ramos draws comparisons between the US system and China's whole-process people’s democracy.

Ms. Wang Yinxiang, a small farmer, a village party secretary, and deputy to the Two Sessions told Ramos: “Democracy in China is a comprehensive process that fully values the opinions of people from all walks of life and sectors of society, allowing everyone to understand and participate. I am a representative of the peasants, coming from the grassroots. You can see that our representatives come from diverse professions and sectors, reflecting different perspectives and backgrounds. This allows us to observe how the Party and the government serve the people.”

From the early hours of Monday, hundreds of picket lines formed across the country. The strike resonated across sectors, with some of the most notable results found in transport and logistics: both of Brussels’ main airports were forced to cancel departures as a result of the actions, while disruptions delayed the processing of dozens of ships in Antwerp’s port.
