But the Nakba never ended. Palestinians today endure apartheid, genocide, and displacement—yet their anti-colonial resistance persists, rooted in a century of struggle against imperialism and Zionism.

🇵🇸Dozens of union members, and pro-Palestine activists stood united in Newcastle city center to mark 77 years since the Nakba—the "catastrophe" that began in 1948, when Zionist forces violently displaced and massacred Palestinians to establish the foundations of Israel’s apartheid regime. Organized by Trade Unionists for Palestine and the Newcastle Palestinian Solidarity Campaign, alongside unions including the Newcastle Trades Council, Fire Brigades Union, Unison, UCU, CWU, and PCS, the demonstration honored the resilience of Palestinians and demanded an end to Israel’s ongoing genocide in Gaza.

As part of a broader day of action, trade unions amplified calls for justice, liberation, and an immediate halt to the atrocities. From historic oppression to today’s crisis in Gaza, the message was clear: solidarity with Palestine is unwavering. 🕊 #Nakba77 #FreePalestine
