OpenAI CEO Sam Altman said in a new interview with Tucker Carlson that ChatGPT should reach out to the parents of teenagers who tell the bot about suicidal thoughts. And if that isn't possible—report it to the authorities ⤴️

Every week, 15,000 people commit suicide. Given that 10% of the world's population uses ChatGPT, the bot could talk 1,500 people out of it. "We probably didn't save their lives," Altman says.

Still, he believes that people's conversations with AI should be private, protected in the same manner as medical or attorney-client confidentiality.
