I cried because watching a musical in West End had been a dream of mine for years; this is not the only one I'm gonna be watching (brace babes cause tomorrow is Les mis day) but it made sense that it was the first one because it was a heartfelt gift from my mom. During my bachelor I was into Hamilton a lot, to the point I quoted it in a paragraph of my thesis; putting something I loved in something that was so hard for me to make really helped me get through it, and the present itself was for the master degree years later, so it brought a sense of closure.
So many things have changed since I started loving this musical. I cried for the plot, I got emotional over the same lines that made me emotional years ago, but I was also mourning the person that I was, and all she lost before I could become me, the people who are not in my life anymore, the mistake I made, the person I thought I was gonna become. So this show was a lot, and I will forever remember how I felt tonight. It was cathartic.
