Today, I spoke with the families of the Canadian victims of Flight PS752. Their courage, resilience, and unwavering pursuit of justice continues to drive our work. Canada initiated legal proceedings at the International Court of Justice and the International Civil Aviation Organization, imposed multiple rounds of sanctions on those responsible, listed the IRGC as a terrorist entity, and led annual UN resolutions condemning Iran’s human rights abuses. To the families and victims - Canada stands with you and will keep pressing for accountability, reparations, and justice.

On the morning of 8 January 2020, Ukraine International Airlines Flight PS752 was shot down near Tehran, the Islamic Republic of Iran, by an Iranian air defense surface-to-air missile system. As a result of this tragedy, 176 people lost their lives – citizens and residents of Ukraine, Canada, Sweden, the United Kingdom, Afghanistan, and Iran. Today, we honor the memory of all those who perished and extend our condolences to their families and loved ones.

For six years, the International Coordination and Response Group for the victims of Flight PS752, consisting of Ukraine, Canada, Sweden, and the United Kingdom, has continued to take consistent steps to ensure transparency, justice, and responsibility of Iran for the downing of Flight PS752.

Statement by the Association of Families of Flight PS752 Victims regarding the Internet Shutdown and Killings in Iran

To all Iranians and to the free world!
The world must not stand by and watch another massacre. While the grief for the 177 precious lives lost in the skies of Tehran at the hands of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) missiles still weighs heavily on our chests, today we witness once again the Islamic Republic's machinery of death and crime spilling the blood of our brave youth on the streets of Iran.
By completely cutting off the internet and plunging the country into absolute darkness, the despotic regime ruling Iran intends—just as it did in the "Bloody November" of 2019—to massacre, with impunity and away from the eyes of the world, protesters who have taken to the streets out of desperation for their most basic human rights and freedom. This regime has demonstrated that it knows no bounds in committing crimes against humanity to maintain its precarious survival.
The Association of Families of Flight PS752 Victims, while declaring its full solidarity with the brave uprising of the Iranian people, warns that the silence and inaction of the international community at this critical moment is tantamount to complicity in suppression and slaughter. We urge democratic governments, international organizations, and major internet service providers worldwide to provide the necessary means for people to access the internet and maintain contact with the outside world without delay. Today is the time for practical support for the people of Iran.
We, the grieving families, who have felt the crime in the skies of Tehran with our very flesh and blood, declare in one voice with all the courageous protesters that our quest for justice for the blood spilled in the sky is inextricably tied to the blood unjustly spilled on the streets. We will not rest until the day the perpetrators and commanders of these crimes are brought to justice in a fair court of law.

ملت شریف ایران، مردم آزاده‌ی جهان!
جهان نباید نظاره‌گر کشتار دیگری باشد. در حالی که داغ ۱۷۷ جانِ شیرین که در آسمان تهران به دست موشک‌های سپاه پاسداران کشته شدند همچنان بر سینه‌ی ما سنگینی می‌کند، امروز بار دیگر شاهدیم ماشین کشتار و جنایت جمهوری اسلامی، در خیابان‌های ایران، خون جوانان شجاع ما را به زمین می‌ریزد.
رژیم مستبد حاکم بر ایران، با قطع کامل اینترنت و فرو بردن کشور در تاریکی مطلق، در صدد است تا همچون آبان خونین ۹۸، با فراغ بال و به دور از چشم جهانیان، دست به قتل‌عام معترضانی بزند که جان به لب رسیده، برای ابتدایی‌ترین حقوق انسانی و آزادی خود به خیابان آمده‌اند. این رژیم نشان داده است که برای بقای لرزان خود، هیچ مرزی در جنایت علیه بشریت نمی‌شناسد.
انجمن خانواده‌های جان‌باختگان پرواز PS752، ضمن اعلام همبستگی کامل با قیام شجاعانه‌ی مردم ایران، هشدار می‌دهد که سکوت و بی‌عملی جامعه‌ی جهانی در این لحظه‌ی بحرانی، به معنای همدستی در سرکوب و کشتار است. ما از دولت‌های دموکراتیک، نهادهای بین‌المللی و شرکت‌های بزرگ تامین‌کننده‌ی اینترنت در سراسر جهان می‌خواهیم که بدون فوت وقت و به صورت فوری زمینه‌ی دسترسی مردم به اینترنت و تماس با خارج از کشور را فراهم کنند. امروز، زمان حمایت عملی از مردم ایران است.
ما خانواده‌های داغدار، که جنایتِ آسمان تهران را با گوشت و پوست خود لمس کرده‌ایم، هم‌صدا با تمام معترضانِ جان‌برکف اعلام می‌کنیم که دادخواهی ما از خون‌های ریخته شده در آسمان، به خون‌های به ناحق ریخته شده بر کف خیابان گره خورده است. تا روزی که عاملان و آمران این جنایات در دادگاهی عادلانه محاکمه نشوند، از پای نخواهیم نشست.
ما قاتلین فرزندان ایران را نه فراموش می‌کنیم و نه می‌بخشیم.

• حمایت رسمی دولت کانادا از پرونده‌ی کیفری در دیوان بین‌المللی کیفری
• صدور حکم بازداشت برای تمامی عاملان و آمران این جنایت
