A long-serving Catholic bishop known as a "peacemaker" was shot and killed in Los Angeles on Saturday and we still have no details about it.

Auxiliary Bishop David O'Connell, who had been a priest and then a bishop during his 45 years with the church, died "unexpectedly," José H. Gomez, the archbishop of Los Angeles, said in a statement.

"He was a peacemaker with a heart for the poor and the immigrant, and he had a passion for building a community where the sanctity and dignity of every human life was honored and protected," Gomez said.

Worshipping the universe is a violation of the first and great commandment (Matt. 22:37-38). It is idolatry and are not giving the credit to where it's due. The universe itself is not God, nor does it care about who you are and how you live your life. An impersonal mindless universe cannot grant you wishes for thinking happy thoughts. A worldview that teaches the universe is God cannot give you a rational foundation for logic, truth, ethics & the reliability of our consciousness. As image bearers of God we are obligated to worship the true Creator rather than the creation (the universe). The God of Scripture is the one who upholds the universe and by the power of his word (Hebrews 1:3). He sent His Son to die on the cross for your sins so that you may have everlasting life and a true relationship with your Creator.
