Footage shows the Ataturk Dam locks opened by rescuers to release water in a controlled manner and avoid a sudden burst destroying more homes after many dams suffered damage in Monday’s earthquake.
The Ataturk Dam is the third-largest in the world, and one of a series of 22 dams on the Euphrates River that provides crucial hydroelectric power and irrigation for farmland.
