🚨#BREAKING Evacuations have begun in parts of Nevada County due to a wildfire near the town of Washington, the sheriff's office said.
A wildfire that prompted evacuations in parts of Nevada County, including the town of Washington, was caused by a lightning strike, officials said.
The Highway Fire started near Washington Road and Highway 20 around 2:35 p.m. According to the Tahoe National Forest Service, the fire has burned anywhere between 30-40 acres as of 4:10 p.m. About 40 minutes prior, the fire was reported to have burnt at least 15 acres.

Love given out from YOU vitalizes YOU as well as it vitalizes the one you give it to. If you do not like your work, it does not like you. It gives back to you what you give to it. You become fatigued and devitalized. Whatever situation in which you find yourself, master it by giving love out of yourself to it, for that is the only way to master it. If you give aught but love, it will regive aught but love. There is no task which manifests God which is not beautiful if you make it so, for beauty is not in any task--it is in YOU. If you have to sweep the floor, do it gloriously. The floor must be swept. If it falls to you to sweep it, do it perfectly, with love, and it will bless you. A joyous attitude of Mind from love given out will prolong your date of maturing, lengthen your life and make your thinking more brilliant and keen to the day of your passing. Here is M. Kaleo Manuel, the Hawaii water official who refused to release water resources and let landowners fight the Maui fire, explaining his "philosophy" about water:
"Native Hawaiians treated water as one of the earthly manifestations of a god...We've become used to looking at water as something that we use, and not something that we revere...We can reconnect to that traditional value set."
I'm sure all the victims of the Maui fire are grateful their leaders were focused on worshipping water rather than using it to save their lives.
