What does Evergrande default mean?
Heres what it COULD mean:
- lots of evergrande bonds have been used for collateral by banks/hedge funds. Now that collateral is worthless, meaning they will need to come up with more collateral AKA Margin calls 😎
- Liquidity (available cash) will dry up meaning costs/fees to borrow money for hedge funds etc will increase more
All bad news for hedge funds.
The big question is why did they wait until right now to default? Its been defunct a long time. Why right now?

- 很多恒大的债券被银行/对冲基金用作抵押品。现在，这些抵押品一文不值，意味着他们需要拿出更多的抵押品，也就是追加保证金😎。
- 流动性（可用现金）将枯竭，意味着对冲基金等借钱的成本/费用将增加。
这对对冲基金来说都是坏消息。
最大的问题是，为什么他们要等到现在才违约？它已经违约很长时间了。为什么是现在？
