Liberty comes into being when our bodies and our minds belong to ourselves and liberty is lost when a government decides what is right or wrong regarding what we do with ourselves.
Every law attempting to limit liberty throughout history has ultimately failed, because our genetically-designed urge for individual freedom is overwhelming.
Liberty - which is personal freedom - cannot be restrained through laws, it can only be punished as it is expressed, causing widespread suffering in a society.
If you consider this, even briefly, you will see the value of liberty in all things; that it's existence is dependent on privacy, and that it is necessary as the foundation of a sane and prosperous society.
