OD10011 - Understanding Stellar Network Explorer

The Stellar Network Explorer should be your first resort before and after transacting on Stellar.

Now let's take a look closely at the five images we have here in order of activities:

First image shows an asset named QFS issued by an account (also called the issuing account) starting with GD23, and ending with DSQ. This is the issuing account of the dominant XFLARE group.

This token (QFS) was issued by the scam group on October 08, 2021, using the domian (Quantum-SteLLLar.io) few days after the original asset issuer (QuantumStellar.ai)

But our attention should be drawn to the Asset Authorization Flags. That session tells that the asset can be manipulated anytime by the issuing account.

The second image explains the flags better. Did you notice the question mark by the Authorization Flags, click on that and you'll get a pop-up as shown on the second image. This asset can be revoked by the issuing account. This means, you may have bought this asset but the issuer(the scam group) can revoke the asset at Will without your consent.

Money will not be refunded and asset is totally gone.

The second image also tells us that the scam group has hidden it's domain such that newbies on stellar who have heard of their wickedness will still fall for their pranks

Please be aware of the list of scam domains (headed by the XFLARE group and others) which we'll be providing you after this post.

Let's take a look at an account who was a victim of this act of wickedness. The third image shows the account of the buyer (starting with GCJS...).

This buyer is not much of a newbie judging from the fact that the wallet account was created on the August 24, 2021.

On November 02, 2021 the buyer purchased huge amount of the QFS token from the group but on November 04, 2021, the scam group de-authorized the buyer such that the buyer is no longer a Trustliner to this QFS token.

The fourth and fifth images give a clearer view of the operation that took place between the scam group and the innocent buyer on November 04, 2021.


Lesson:

Before buying a token or accepting any Airdrop which inturn may prompt a buy in the future, it will be good you take a look at the Network Explorer to understand what's hidden and what's visible. The Authorization Flags of a token with trust level 1 should be none. But the flags may be updated anytime by the issuing account, which is why you need to transact only with trusted organizations.
