I’m replaying xenoblade 3 and it’s going really well so far.
I like the tone of the story much better than xeno 2, it manages to strike a better balance between serious and light, and the humor is much more situational than the cringey skits in the 2.
They are so young, and they act so young, and I really love the difference between them talking about routes, battles, strategy and them experiencing anything other than bleak fighting.

Also I like most f/m couples in xenoblade 3 which is crazy I know but also shows that you just have to do the bare minimum and things WORK
I keep thinking about the scent where Noah and Mio meet, about the concept: this is like a dance, I don’t know the steps but I recognize the melody. And I think it summarizes pretty well their relationship in these first chapter. They don’t know anything about love, about relationships, about feelings or flirting (they canonically don’t know how children are mad, that is not one but two whole different plot points) but they fall for each other nevertheless. Ethel and Cammuravi are a beautiful can of worms of course since they do end up killing one another. But it’s like. One of the only instances where it is an act of reclaiming their own agency, of choosing to returning to one another and to what they love in spite of their masters and the lives they did not even know they were forced to live. It’s tragic yes but also beautiful in its own sad way, and it is also what they wanted, even if, perhaps, only because they had not the chance to know anything else. A dance, and the only known steps were the deadly ones.
