"In 1960, Virginia Prince founded Transvestia magazine. Published six times a year in Los Angeles by Chevalier Publications, 1980-1986, it was edited by Prince until 1980, and then sold to Carol Beecroft, who acted as editor until 1986. Transvestia was the first widely-distributed magazine focused on the crossdressing community. In time, it expanded to include content about the larger trans community. In an era before the internet, the publication became a major life-line for its readers. In Transvestia, trans people could openly write about their experiences, challenges, and successes. Subscribers to the publication were able to network and connect with each other by way of articles, ads, and by personally writing to the editors."

Messaggio ricondiviso:

Ciao carissimə!

Fourth-year undergraduate psychology student Lucia (she/her/they) at the University of Glasgow is looking for italian nonbinary people to interview to investigate how language can affect how people perceive the world and how the world perceives them.

She is interested in how the language in which people live can affect them – in this case, how the gendered Italian language affects non-binary people and what their experiences are with gender identity affirmation in such a constrained language that promotes a strong binary and gender dichotomy.

Trans bucket is an online repository of affirmative surgery photos, feedback and surgeon's names. So far one of the biggest the trans community has.

It has been down for 7 months to preserve itself after being mentioned directly in a new york time article about phalloplasty (mention removed after requests due the safety issues arised).

It's safe to post there now? We don't know. Transphobes are always around saving our pictures. Trans people have started to upload again tho, hopefully you can find it helpful.

"Raging Asian Womxn Taiko Drummers (RAW) is a Toronto-based performing arts ensemble made up of East and Southeast Asian womxn. Formed in 1998, we carry on the diasporic Taiko tradition that grew out of Asian American and Asian Canadian mobilization in the 60s and 70s. One of the few all-Asian, all-womxn Taiko drumming groups in the world, RAW exists as a critical response and challenge to both systemic and internalized oppressions. RAW plays large taiko drums as creative resistance for social change, carving space for self-expression, education and community building."
(the group is trans inclusive)

2023 WBMC Submissions!
The Wiggle Bird Mailing Club is a Patreon project publishing a new zine (with an emphasis on comics) from a different trans/queer author every month since 2018.

Check us out: Patreon.com/poolparty666

We’re currently accepting submissions of short comics/zines for Jan thru Dec 2023! Subs are open till the end of 2022, but a few people will be contacted before the new year so I can have January/February scheduled.

If chosen to be a featured author, the WBMC would handle all the printing/mailing, you’d keep all rights to publish your work in the future, and be paid $500 along with 5 free copies of your zine. The amount of copies printed monthly varies but currently (October 2022) we’re publishing about 300 copies a month!
