The aircraft carrier Harry S. Truman began a sharp evasive maneuver, after which the F-18 and the tug went into the water.
The official statement says there were no casualties among personnel:
"The F/A-18E was being towed in a hangar when the crew lost control of the aircraft. The aircraft and tug went overboard. The sailors towing the aircraft immediately retreated to avoid being hit by the aircraft before it went overboard. The investigation is ongoing"
