Had a horrible realization about P-3 (Spoiler for Layer 8)
Throughout Layer 8, we can find references to Lucifer and Ulliyses. While most assumed that Ullyses would be the Prime Soul at P-3, Lucifer got a surprising amount of focus in Fraud. I know that many, myself included, immediately assumed that the painting was hinting at Lucifer being the boss at the last Prime Sanctum.
Ullyses is still the most likely one to be the Prime Soul, being a human soul, a Greek king, and mentioned in the book that you get after fighting the secret encounter (both encounters actually). But then why bring Lucifer back now? Also in a book, after the secret encounter, and still keep him surrounded in mystery
But I realized something, in 1-3, we had Agony and Tundra, in 6-1, Angry and Rude, and in 8-3, Rudraksha and Agonis. I want to specifically focus on 1-3 and 8-3, where you have to grab a red and blue skull to be able to fight them.
The skulls that are called Tria Prima or the Three Primes.
Let me repeat myself to make my point clear. You have to go through the blue and red paths to fight two secret bosses at once.

Now that i think about it, 7-4 to 8-1 is an INSANE transition
It has been 2 years since the Violence layer got added, and as such we don't even think about the impact Benjamin had when we first met him, now, imagine this, you're a new player that just went through all of violence 7-1 to 7-3, and bam 7-4 comes and you're face-to-face with the biggest machine you've ever seen.,Then after you do the whole Earthmover fight, you go down the elevator thingy to be IMMEDIATELY thrown into the insanity of Fraud. Just think about it, we had 2 years to digest Violence, imagine having seconds and already being thrown into fraud. I swear Treachery is gonna make even the devil cry cuz how the fuck is Jakito planning to top violence and fraud

(8-4 spoiler) what exactly does this imply?
was fraud fake all long, or was this hell showing v1 its desperate attempt at survival is nothing more than a play for hell to spectate? I don't really like the idea of the entirety of fraud being fake, but that's what a lot of people seem to think because of this i think it's more showing that fraud can be whatever it wants at any given moment or something along those lines

The 39 States of Existence
I was browsing through my screenshots of any notable lore pieces in Fraud from my playthoughs, and this one line from the mirror book in 8-3 caught my intrigue, even more than the deadname of Lucifer, the 39 states of existence.
I pondered on this for a while as the number truly seemed random when I first saw it, so I began my search.
First - In Context of Ultrakill:
- The number 39 has not been mentioned anywhere in Ultrakill, not in the Testaments, the other books prior, not in any enemy logs. But it IS found in the Menu. Starting from Act 1: Infinite Hyperdeath (because Prelude isnt actually in hell), we have a total of 10 levels. Same can be said for Act 2: Imperfect Hatred, and Act 3: Godfist Suicide, all having the first 2 layers with 8 levels and the last layer with 2, totalling 10 each, leading to a total of 30 levels all across the base game. We're lacking 9, but that's where Encore comes in. Precisely leaving out 0-E once more since it's technically not a part of hell, from 1-E to 9-E, we total our desired 39. But this configuration isn't the only one you could do. You can do the same 30 levels from Acts 1-3, but this time, count the number of secret levels per Act. 2 on each act, making 6, then add the number of Prime Sanctum levels, leading to a total of 9 which once again lands us to 39. Now I'm not sure Which of these configurations are more "accurate", I'm simply stating that the number Can be found within the game, intentional from big Hakita himself or not.
- In the context of Hell's message itself, it really is still vague.. Its whole book in 8-3 is to demonstrate mankind's futility to find peace and paradise due to them only seeing reality in a mere 2-dimensional scale, which leads them to an eternal cycle of violence, and Hell is there to boast that it knows reality on a far grander scale than humanity, and wishes to portray its complex vision to mankind in its signature grotesque sadism, to man and to Lucifer, its favorite denizen. Of course, this being found in Fraud, the layer which is literally defying Euclidean space, is Hell's attempt at demonstrating possibly just a fraction of its vision.
Second - In Context of The Divine Comedy
- This was the first external source I delved into after going schizo on Ultrakill's main menu. The only significance of 39 within the whole comedy seems to just be in Inferno Canto XXXII: 1-39, wherein it introduces the frozen river of Treachery, Cocytus. Overall, I don't believe the original inspiration has much for us to begin solving this, so let's move on to the last.
Third - In Context of Abrahamic Tradition
- This was the last idea of mine to get at, and indeed, it yielded more interesting results. The first thing I found was the 39 categories which are forbidden during the Sabbath, mainly practiced for Hebrew tradition. I am NOT going to list down all 39, but it's there if you wish to search it up. Now the more relevant second thing are the 39 stripes. The 39 stripes is the limit for the Israelites at the time to whip and scourge a fellow Israelite to carry out punishment. First carried out and mentioned in Deuteronomy 25:1 - 3, and is administered to the apostle Paul in 2Corinthians 11:24. This parallels Hell's motif and theme in the book of it's visions for torment, 39 states of Existence of possible agonies, and 39 gashes, wounds cast onto another man.
Overall, this is just my foundational ramblings for even beginning to try and figure out if this number truly means something, or if Hakita just thought it to be cool. I pray it's entertaining and insightful, at least.
