How to transfer an app to new phone that is no longer supported by Google play?
I use an app for Podcast that I really like, its name is BeyondPod.
I paid for the pro version, but the company went under and it no longer updates it. I didn't realize this, and when I transferred my apps to the new Samsung S25 Ultra, it transferred the app but not the key? Last time I used Google play to get my key. Mind you, this was 3 or more years ago.
I used the Samsung app for transferring data and apps, the Smart Switch.
I remember that before, google play would download new file (the key?), and that I could see it if I selected the "show hidden files" but now I cannot, in the old phone, a Galaxy S23.
Any tips or ideas? I just want the app to work. It was great, no adds, and it does great back ups. I imagine I can copy the key to the new phone and it should work. I hope.
Thank you for any help!

Is there an app that lets a friend lock my phone with my consent, parental-control-like? I am too addicted for getting rid of this alone.
Something simple that lets me get rid of my metal prison for the correct hours. Making a call or a message to get rid of it just to lose my time is a wall high enough not to cross. If a real parental control app is the only way, wich one is the best for this purpose? besides from Qustodio and Google ones.

Looking for a file sorting/moving app
Basically the noscript. So I download a lot of files, images, videos, music that sort of thing and I am looking for an app that will automatically move those to their respective folders (pictures/videos/music) without me having to go into a file manager and manually moving it. I don't mind if it runs in the background.

Weird behavior of word App on tablet compared to phone
Hi guys,
I have a Samsung Galaxy Phone and Tablet.
On the Phone I can use the Microsoft Word App just fine to edit .docx textfiles. Occasionally the App asks me to Update the privacy settings and restarts, but afterwards it continues to work.
On the Tablet Word refuses to edit files, it asks me to get an office 365 subnoscription.
Why? On both devices I use the same Microsoft account.
Is there a 1 device limit? Can I transfer this limit to the tablet, I don't use Word on my phone.
If nothing else works: Any other suggestions for a Word replacement? WPS and MobiOffice are extremely limited in free mode and as expensive as office 365.
Thanks in advance.

Walking game apps?
I've been meaning to get out more and be more active but I haven't had any luck with any of the stuff I download, I tried pokemon go and fitness rpg and those haven't really been much of a stick.
I was wondering specifically if there are any apps that are like those rpg map systems where an area is like blocked off and darkened out but you have to get there physically to be able to see it, like a mapping app but gamified?

How do you manage a large personal wardrobe on Android? Looking for advice
Hi,
I’m looking for advice from Android users.
My wife has a very large wardrobe, and we couldn’t find a simple app that works well for managing personal clothes — especially something that works offline and focuses on organization rather than shopping.
Because of that, I decided to experiment and build a small Android app myself, mainly as a learning project and to solve this specific problem at home. I don’t have a background in mobile development, so I’m genuinely interested in how other people approach this.
So far, the idea focuses on things like:
\- adding your own clothes (from gallery or directly from the camera)
\- basic tagging (color, type, occasion, etc.)
\- creating and saving outfits
\- optional backups (local or cloud in a paid version)
\- optional shopping suggestions shown only as ideas, not required
What I’d really like to understand from real users:
\- Do you actually manage your wardrobe digitally?
\- What features are essential, and what feels unnecessary?
\- Would you personally prefer an offline-first approach, or cloud-based by default?
\- Is this something you’d realistically use, or does it sound over-engineered?
I’m not trying to promote anything here — just looking for honest opinions and advice before going any further.
Thanks in advance, I really appreciate your insights.

Battery health status app
I honestly hate that Android smartphone (or most of them) don't have a built-in indicator for battery life, like "your battery has 80% of maximum battery life" like the iPhones had since 2014.
I have a Google Pixel 7a and I need an app to check the battery health of my phone.
What's the best app? I honestly don't need anything else (maybe the charge cycle count but it's not mandatory), so less options would be the best (more light app, less phone resource to keep it active in background).
Thank you.

Looking for app to change microphone input source (may be for rooted device)
Hi.
I am having a hard time finding an app (or Magisk module) to change the source of microphone input. Can be for rooted device, I can get away with rooting my device.
My current ROM does have an issue that makes me unable to record video's sound (only noise) although calls and voice recorder apps work fine. OpenCamera works fine too after changing source but that does not allow me to, for example, record a video on Messenger app so I am trying to find a way to, idk, either change the main input source or redirect one input to another.
Thanks in advance.

Files apps manager recommendation?
I don't like the "Recent" banner in Google's Files app that shows you everything on the front, but I like its design. I'm looking for something similar in layout or design. Any recommendations?

Is localsend still the best "offline" file transferring app?
Before y'all say try blip (which doesn't work without wifi ri8?), the reason I transfer is because I want to share large videos I have on my phone to my tablet without internet while traveling. In localsend, I use my phone as Hotspot host and tablet as reciver. But it's been slow/buggy lately + it doesn't share in the background. The app hasn't been updated for 11 months. Is there any alternative?

Shark Arsenal apk still doesn't support the Magcooler Pro 5
As the noscript says, someone have managed to add the Magcooler Pro 5 to the Android app? It seems that Black Shark stopped the support to the 4th generation with the Android version (while the iOS version it is constantly updated, in fact it also has support for the latest released cooler)

Recipe manager app with tasks app integration?
I'm researching recipe manager apps and for me it's important to be able to share grocery lists which I want to do outside of the recipe app in a tasks app (like Microsoft To Do, Samsung Reminders, GTasks, etc.). On iPhone I have found the Mela Recipe Manager app which works by syncing your grocery list with the Apple Reminders app. I am however using PC and Android where this app is not available.
Does anyone have a workflow like this that works for them?
Best I have found so far is copy/pasting from Recipe Manager into Microsoft To Do on my PC, which then syncs to my phone. But this solution is not ideal and I would prefer automatic syncing of some kind.

Why Android Users Trust Open Systems More Than Closed Platforms
One thing I’ve noticed after using Android for years and talking to other long-time users is that trust on Android seems to come less from brand promises and more from visibility and control. Android users tend to feel more comfortable with systems where they can see what’s happening under the hood, even if they don’t tweak everything themselves.
A big reason is choice. On Android, you’re not locked into a single app store, launcher, browser engine, or default workflow. You can switch keyboards, revoke granular permissions, install apps from multiple sources, or even replace core parts of the experience. That freedom creates a sense that you are in charge, not the platform. Even if most users never sideload an app or flash a ROM, knowing that it’s possible builds confidence.
Another factor is transparency over polish. Closed platforms often optimize for simplicity by hiding complexity, but that can feel like opacity. Android, by contrast, exposes things like background activity, battery usage per app, permission history, and system-level controls. When something goes wrong, users can usually identify what is causing it. That visibility turns frustration into understanding, which is a huge trust builder.
There’s also a strong open-source culture spillover. Many Android users are familiar at least conceptually with open-source software, FOSS apps, and community-driven development. Even for non-technical users, the idea that software can be inspected, forked, or improved by a community feels safer than “trust us, it just works.”
That said, openness isn’t free. It can lead to inconsistent UX, security risks if users aren’t careful, and more responsibility on the user to make good choices. But interestingly, many Android users seem to prefer that trade-off. They’d rather accept some complexity than give up autonomy.
I’m curious how others here see it:
* Is this trust actually about openness, or just familiarity over time?
* Do newer Android users feel the same way, or is this mostly a power-user mindset?
* Where do you personally draw the line between control and convenience?
Would love to hear different perspectives from this sub.
