New Android newcomer looking for some apps
Hi,
I'm coming from iOS. I have some apps which I'm already missing on Android. I'd kindly like to ask for alternatives.
1. Drafts: I use this app as an entry point to my textual things: I write notes, todos and other texts in it, and then I use its actions to move it to appropriate places. Does such an app exist in the Android world? Especially the easy making of actions is what I'm after.
2. WeatherGods: This app has an unique feature of playing a sound for different weather condition. For me its much more than a simple gimmick (I am blind, and such feature gives me a similar vibe to a quick glance for a sighted person).
3. Widget mirroring: on macOS I could mirror my iPhone widgets to the desktop. Is there such a way on Android? I'm slowly transitioning to KDE so doing it on KDE would be good too.

What Android productivity apps do you actually use?
Hey everyone,
I’m curious what productivity apps you use on Android to organize your life. Task managers, project planners, habit trackers, notes, calendars, anything that genuinely helps you stay on top of things.
I’ve tried a few but always end up bouncing between apps or dropping them after a while. Looking for ideas that actually stick in real life, not just in theory.
What do you use daily and why does it work for you?

What is the first thing that makes you uninstall an Android app?
I have been testing a few Android apps recently and noticed I uninstall some within minutes. For me it is usually slow onboarding or too many permissions upfront. Curious what triggers it for others here. What is the fastest way an app loses you?

What's the best way to run automations? And more specifically, regarding alarms.
I want to automate certain tasks, such as binding routines to alarms. Google clock has built in routines where you can set up a custom one, but:
1. You can't use routines stored in Google Home anyhow.
2. Google home doesn't have an alarm trigger.
3. They recently introduced a new bug where trying to edit an existing routine deletes it instead so you have to start over.
4. There's been a long history of buggy routines where they won't fire, or won't have permission to work on a locked phone, so I don't trust it too much.
I've heard about Automate, Tasker, and a few other options to do this, but I was wondering what would be the best way today to do automations in general.
Separately, there's the specific case of alarms. I want to be able to store and use automations, either from Google Home, or other apps I don't mind. Google home ones are convenient because they allow me to do almost everything I need.
For reference, what I'm doing now is, when I stop my weekdays' morning alarm it will set DND off, volume to correct levels, tell me the weather, calendar events, then play music. I've tried calling the Home automation from the alarm's routine using a custom command but it says it doesn't understand the command.
If anyone has any idea how to do this, or any feedback, I'm happy to read.
Thanks in advance!

Any Fast Charge alternatives to Device Care so I can uninstall it and not have to constantly force stop the app to prevent it from trying to restart my phone and cause me immense irrational frustration
The installed by default Device Care app keeps asking me to restart my phone every so often and will restart it without my permission if I ignore the notifications and forget to temporarily stop the app itself, this has been getting on my nerves for months now and I am wondering if there are any basic trimmed down alternatives or apps that only enable fast charging as that feature is literally about the only reason I haven't forcibly uninstalled Device Care

Are apps with lifetime plans really useful?
I am a developer and user of apps created by other developers. I really want the developer and user views on this point. I stumbled upon a post in this sub where most users wanted or wished for lifetime plans of apps they like.
I prefer subnoscription plans—I have lost money because I mostly bought lifetime plans for apps. Moreover, lifetime plans are usually 10 times more expensive—plus you pay that upfront. Once you have paid, those apps disappear. This looks like some scam strategy because I see the same apps coming up with different names and different publisher names. These days, you hardly find reputable apps with lifetime plans. Now I practically stay away from lifetime paid apps, unlike others who want lifetime plans. I would rather buy a monthly or yearly subnoscription.
Let me know your views. And also apps that you find useful having a lifetime plan and how long you have used them?

Android apps that can monitor inbound/outbound network traffic?
Hey all,
I’m looking for Android security / antivirus apps that can actually monitor network traffic, not just show total data usage.
Ideally something that can:
Show per-app connections
Distinguish incoming vs outgoing traffic
Show IPs/domains/ports (even partially)
Work without root (rooted options also welcome)
Play Store apps preferred, but open-source or non-Play Store tools are fine too.
I know Android has VPN API limits, TLS encryption, etc — just looking for the best practical options people are using.
Any recommendations or real-world experience appreciated. Thanks!

Is it possible to zoom out with the camera past the "1" filter?
I can't seem to do that on my Moto G 2025 and the Motorolla Subreddit isn't responding. I am not sure what to search on Google, I just keep getting the same answer that I tried at first (which is what prompted this question) or different questions.
Is there something I need to enable?

Dev.Macgyver's Photo Editor app for Android?
So, I was looking for a free alternative to Photoshop, and stumbled across this as a recommendation to someone who had previously inquired about photo editing apps. However, I'm pretty incompetent in the photo editing arena. My intent is to learn how to use this app (or another freenone that's more appropriate) to make absurdly silly content, and nothing more. I don't know if I'm using the correct vernacular, but, I want to learn how to splice together, overlap, and distort one or multiple photos, for the aforementioned reason. I feel like I might end up smacking my forehead here, but I can't seem to find any tutorials for this app that aren't at least several years out of date. If anyone can help me out, and or redirect me to an appropriate sub, I'd be quite grateful. Thanks!

Timer app that resets and restarted from the notification
I want a timer app that I can reset and restart from the notification. I often use timers to remind me of laundry and other tasks. The standard android timer app can be reset from the notification, but i have to open the app to restart any timer.
Ive looked into a few like multi timer and notification timer and both have the same behavior as the standard app.

Is there a way I can get red Dead redemption running on my officially unsupported Google pixel 6
I've tried clearing cash and storage for play store. Cache for red dead redemption, and cache for netflix, it still won't work, on one attempt it managed to get far and I signed in with Netflix but then it was on a pending screen for a long time. I downloaded red dead redemption from an apk in some wrbsite I forgot what it was, because on play store it says it isn't compatible. I'm kinda new to this apk stuff.

Discord Help
I desperately need some Discord help. I have two problems that drive me crazy:
1. I often post pics or vids, and while it is uploading (my internet is pretty slow) I'll switch back to whatever app I was on before. But Discord will switch BACK to itself once the upload is complete. But only sometimes.
2. When I tap on the message box to reply to someone, the keyboard will cover the text box and I won't be able to see what I'm typing. But only sometimes.
Any help on either of these would be greatly appreciated. I've tried regular Discord (and possibly others but I won't say as that is against the rules here) but nothing works.
