What do you think about apps that let you play and also create casual games?

Most Android games I use these days are casual - puzzle games, block games, short sessions, chill, saves me from 5 mins. of embarrassment when I have to do nothing.

Recently I came across an app where you can play casual games for free, but it also lets you create simple mini-games yourself using prompts. It felt more like a playground than a traditional game app, which I didn’t really expect.

It made me wonder how people here feel about this kind of mix: playing games and casually creating or tweaking them

Do you see yourself using something like that, or do you prefer games to stay strictly “play-only”?
Curious to hear thoughts from people who try a lot of Android apps.

Display Over Other Apps

I’ve allowed screen overlays on settings using developer mode and it is still not working. Does anyone have any help. Also the three dots won’t appear on the app info page.

Google Clock - Default alarm sound

Android 16.

It's driving me a little crazy - how do I either change my default alarm sound or delete the Homecoming ringtone?

I would like to set the default to another sound.

I can't find the option for default alarm.

I tried to delete Homecoming (which is set as default now) and it wouldn't let me.

Thanks.

Android app for voice to text (w formatting

I'm trying to find an Android app that also formats text. I currently use the Google Voice to Text feature in the SwiftKey keyboard, but it doesn't add full stops, capitalisation, etc.

I've tried Gboard which isn't any better. Any tips? I'd like to use it to write text messages and emails.

What's the best 2FA/2SV app to use with the following requirements:

* The app will be used to authenticate multiple Google/Gmail accouns during on-device web browser logins.
* None of these accounts are going to be registered as the admin Google account of the Android device.
* Backups should be available and service-independent. The app should produce backup files that can be saved or uploaded anywhere.

Thanks.

Android switch for apks

I'm trying to install an app from one device onto another using an apk from an apk extractor. The issue I'm having is that the devices use two different Android versions. Is there an app (or website) that lets me input an apk, tell it what version of Android it needs to be compatible with, and install the edited version? If not, I found an app that essentially does this but I need to input the "version code," "version name," "minimum sdk version," and "target sdk version," and I have no clue how to find these for either Android versions. I could be really dumb since I haven't been messing with this kind of stuff for very long. (Not sure where to put this but I don't have a computer. Just the two devices.)

Trying to understand the real journey of earning money with an Android app

I did a little research, and at a high level it looks like this. You build the app, publish it on Google Play after the review, and if it’s a paid app, users pay.

But I know this is a very simplified view.

I’m thinking of getting a Google Play Console subnoscription with the idea of earning money from an app. Before I commit to that, I want to understand how this actually looks in real life. How people go from an idea to something published. What really happens after publishing. How money starts coming in, or doesn’t. Where things get complicated, slow, or harder than expected.

I’m also curious about how people actually find users. What you did to get the first users. Whether you spent a lot on ads, spent a little, or didn’t run ads at all. What you tried, what worked, and what didn’t.

If you’ve tried earning money with an Android app, I’d really like to hear how it went for you. The parts that were not obvious at the start. The things you wish you knew earlier. The reality behind “just build and publish”.

I’m trying to learn from real journeys before deciding what to build.

Any app for AI prompts (Prompt Library)??

Just like the noscript.

I see people creating a lot of things with AI (web projects, images, 3d models), but I don't know how to do it. I’m looking for an app that have collection of prompts. If you know one, please let me know.

I'm looking for a backup program that can save to a NAS.

Hello

I have Android Lineage OS 23 with Android 16. It has a native program called SeedVault, but unfortunately my NAS is very old and I can't configure it.

Is there any other Android backup program that allows me to save the information to my NAS, either via FTP, SFTP, or even SMB?

I've searched, but they either back up to the same device or to the company's own cloud service, like Google Drive or OneDrive.

I want to get the most out of my NAS.

Fragileheart call recorder disappeared

Does anyone use Fragileheart call recorder app? I'm in Western Canada (BC) and although it is legal to record conversations here, (as long as one person is aware), the ability to turn on the the call record option on our phones, (Samsung note 20 ultra in my case) isn't available.

So, although the callers side wasn't as loud, the best option I could find was the Fragileheart call recorder app. It has worked quite well over the years, with only a few hiccups when it had suddenly stopped auto-recording my calls. (Of course it happened during a VERY important call) but thankfully, a restart usually got it working again. I just would have to make sure that it was opened up and active before an expected important call and then it worked quite well.

Anyway. Today I had an important telehealth Dr's appointment and when I went to open the app. It was gone! Completely disappeared.

Has anyone else had it dissappear on them? Unfortunately, my appointment wasn't recorded and because I have memory problems, I depend on being able to go back to review what was said.

I REALLY hope it isn't gone forever because one of the things I really liked about this app, was I could save the recordings as a .mp3 format and be able to save a backup in the cloud for reviewing them years later etc. Thankfully, I have backed the previous important calls up, and the recordings are still in a folder on my phone, but not the app.

If it isn't available anymore, I will need a replacement as soon as possible. The old link to download it now goes to an audio editor app or something. But it doesn't appear to have a phone call recorder option.

Any suggestions?

Has this happened to anyone else at all?

Does google hate android apps?

Just as there noscript says. Like I'm mainly talking about Android not even apple. I just wanted to create a new label for my email in Gmail and then I just got to know that you can't create labels with the Android app. I had to go open Gmail in a browser and create it there via desktop mode.
That's not all. Google tasks does not have the feature to archive a list which is bad but okay. In android Google tasks can't even hide a list like it can for the web app. Similar stuff about creating calendars is there for GCal. At this point, does google even want you to use the Android apps?

Suspicious APK installed, no app exists

I installed a pirated APK and it doesn't appear as an app.

It's definitely a virus because it doesn't appear and I only see the update option. How can I remove the installation and installed files?

Or is there a good antivirus program I can scan for?

I have installed too many App Stores. Which ones are redundant and best to keep?

Hi everyone,

Over time I’ve gone down the rabbit hole of installing different app stores and APK updaters (for F-Droid repos, GitHub releases, etc.). Now my phone is cluttered, and I want to debloat.

Here is the list:
(Google Play Store)
GitHub Store
Dragon Store
Discoverium
Aurora Store
Droid-ify
Orion Store
Obtainium
F-Droid
Neo Store

Which ones are duplications of each other? Which combination do you personally use and recommend?

How to mute notifications

How can I mute notifications, specifically all of them, and only enable the ones I truly desire with sound? I can only find the option to mute individual notifications in the status bar.
