Recording call in Europe
Hi,
I’m in Europe (Germany/Italy) and call recording on Android is basically impossible.
I’ve tried:
*Google Phone app (disabled in EU)
*Play Store apps (only my voice / unreliable)
*Accessibility hacks, Bluetooth, hardware recorders, ROMs → all bad or impractical
Recording calls is legal in many EU countries if you inform the other party, so this is a technical restriction by Google, not a legal one.
Question for developers:
Is it realistically possible to build an Android app that records both sides on modern Android versions without root?
Looking for honest technical insight.
Ps: how much does it cost....
Thanks.

Looking for feedback from Android users on a document scanner app
Hi,
I’m the developer of an Android app called **DocuSnap** that I’ve been maintaining for some time now. I originally built it to solve my own need for scanning documents and managing PDFs without relying on multiple apps.
The app supports basic document scanning, PDF creation, simple editing (crop, split , merge, compress, sign , draw ), image export from PDF and OCR for text extraction. I’m at a point where outside feedback would be really useful.
I’m **not posting this as an ad** — I’m genuinely looking for:
* UX feedback
* Missing features you expect from scanner apps
* Things that feel unnecessary or annoying
If anyone’s willing to try it and share honest feedback, I’d really appreciate it.
Play Store link (for testers):
Thanks in advance — happy to answer any questions or take criticism.

Android planner apps for college that handle assignments + calendar + deadlines + attachments/photos
Hey,, I’m a college student on Android and I’m trying to find an app that really works for semester planning.
Here’s what I need:
- Add assignments and due dates
- A calendar and planner view just for school stuff
- Deadline reminders and alerts
- Ability to add attachments/photos to tasks (local files ok)
- Optional: preview attachments/photos in the app
I don’t care about syncing across devices, local storage is fine. I’ve seen general task apps but most either don’t support attachments, or they’re messy and not built for school.
Apps I’ve tried/know about: Memorigi, 2Do, Trello, Egenda, Power Planner, myHomework/My Study Life, TickTick but some are close, some miss features.
So what Android apps do you actually use for college planning that hit most or all of these needs?
Thanks

Lesson learned from building a “free” app
About a year ago, I built an Amazon price-tracking app. Most of the early users came from Reddit. Since it was still early days, I made it completely ad-free, with no IAPs, high-frequency tracking, and 20 tracking slots per user.
But surprisingly, the "ad-free" and no IAP backfired - especially in the US, Canada, and the UK.
In the US, Canada, and the UK, especially, “free” didn’t build trust, users were sceptical. Many users were worried about data privacy, assuming the app must be collecting their Amazon data because there was no visible revenue model. Some even thought affiliate links meant Amazon would charge them extra.
People would track products, get price-drop alerts, bypass the app and directly purchase from Amazon, and then remove those products shortly after.
That made it very difficult to meet Amazon’s affiliate qualifying sales requirement.
Eventually, I had to shut down the service in most regions and keep it running only in India, where user trust and behaviour were very different.
The user's thinking process is always different from the developer's. Posting this to share the experience.
Did anybody have a similar experience?

Does anyone else still use an offline music player or is it just me?
I honestly don’t feel like paying for multiple subnoscriptions just to listen to music. I like owning my tracks and listening without internet.
Curious how many people still do this.

A pdf editor needed.
Can anyone suggest an android app, which can effectively split PDFs. Like divide a pdf of 30 pages modularly into 3 sections of 10_10 pages. Or just split the pdf into half
I want something that's free. 😭I'm broke!

Is CRICFy TV safe ?
I recently installed CRICFy TV, but during installation Android showed a warning saying the app is fake and may steal my data. So yeah, I get that this version is probably not safe.
That said, I really like the app because it gives live sports channels very easily. I’m wondering if there’s an official or safer version of CRICFy TV, or if I just downloaded a shady build from the wrong site.
Has anyone here used it safely, or know where (if anywhere) the legit version exists?
Appreciate any insights.

can't end app, even through power cycle
Android 14 on Samsung A52 5g. I've been using Android for several years and have never seen this before. Swiping this app up from the taskbar doesn't quit it. It just won't quit. The app even survives shutting the phone down, it's still running on reboot. This annoys me, I may have OCD about quitting apps.
It happens to be Opera, latest version updated 1/14/2026. But the update didn't start this, only the last day.

Third party Telegram client without TOS breaking features
I’m currently using **Nagram** (recommended on FMHY). However, I couldn’t find any download boost feature, which I really need since I use Telegram to download files.
Before switching to Nagram, I was quite happy with **Nekogram**, especially because of its download speed boost option.
Can anyone suggest a stable Telegram client that offers:
* Notifications without lag
* Basic customization
* A download speed boost feature

Apps that I purchased recently. Few of them was actually life saver
BuzzKill : Notification manager. Most helped application. Now not only I get relevant notifications but I won't miss anything important also. eg: company whatsapp group was being flooded with field work messages that is over 500 nos per day. I muted the group first then missed few important messages from management. Now I made a rule that allow me to get notified when specific persons posts and dismisses the rest. Worth the app for this one alone.
Diarium : This one is a journaling app. easy to use, you can attach all the files with the journal. This app helped me mentally. I have a problem with short temper and overthinking which always leave me have problems with colleagues and management. So, as per some advice I started to journal my thoughts during every event I get triggered and also end of every day. Interestingly enough I am much more composed now. Free version was enough to satisfy my needs but purchased anyway just to support dev, cause it helped me.
Solid Explorer : File manager. Just like the name this is solid. Clean UI.
Libera : Ebook reader. You can sync with google drive. 100% worth the purchase.
Podcast Addict : Great application to browse through podcasts. Cool widget with lots of customization. Only app among the list that has subnoscription, which is justified because it is a streaming platform. Also the cost is very cheap like 1$ per month.
Poweramp : Offline music player. As much as the music player go, poweramp is goated and popular one at it.
Budge : Budget planner app. I can't rate this one because I have not started using it. I was so pumped in the new year eve and wanted to financially responsible this year. I downloaded and purchased after a quick test. Seems it will work for me. Let's see how good it is when I starts using it.
SuperImage Pro : Editing tool to enhance and upscale your images. Results were amazing. Free version might be enough for most people. Since it was cheap purchased it anyway.
Muviz Edge : AOD and Edge lighting application. Available designs were too good. So I purchased it without thinking later realized the downside. Since it's AOD this app was draining battery like crazy. Now I made the app to only work when the phone is connected to power.
StandBy : Similar to ios standby. I haven't figure out the best use for me yet. But heard it won't drain your battery. So fingers crossed.
Please mention other apps you find super helpful. FOSS or One time purchase preferred.

It would be very helpful to have a pro quality video editing app that allows exporting in formats that don't compress audio like .mp4 does..

Best browser or an app for using a website as an app?
I am currently using Brave as website app browser. I would like to know if there is any other, better solution with more options.
I tried Hermit, didn't like it. Not sure if this is an 'issue' with reddit but I don't like blue background when clicking on links. If you know HTML you know what I mean.

Scan app with Dropbox upload and OCR based file-naming
I am looking for a scan app:
\- should be super fast and clutter free (just start the app and scan immediately)
\- should save the file immediately and upload it into my dropbox
\- best case: should do some OCR of the document and put the noscript (or some keywords) into the Filename. So the file can be later found on my pc in my dropbox by searching for a keyword.
I am flabbergasted that these features seam to be so difficult to find...
I don't need OCR to scan the entire document and rewrite it completely. Just put the most important words (usualy noscript obviously) into the FILENAME... And I don't want to use 20 steps to just save the file =D
The app can absolutely cost something, but once - no subnoscription...
Thanks very much! <3
