PSA/FIX for PC users and RTX 4080/4090 users having lower than expected performance with Path Tracing enabled
EDIT: I copied the noscript from a (still not approved) post on **r/residentevil**. Was just excited for finding this fix and thought to posit it here ASAP but it never occurred to me to ACTUALLY SPECIFY THE NAME OF THE GAME which is impacted by this issue... This is so dumb of me... It's Resident Evil 9 Requiem.
I kindly ask a mod to change the noscript of this post so it can reach more users, and add the name of the game in there. Sorry about this.
There's multiple discussions online about abnormal performance of RTX 4090's with PT enabled. In short, the GPU usage is normal but the power draw is low (was getting 335W max and dipping below 300W often) indicating something is not right, as can also be seen by sub-par performance.
The fix is very simple - roll back to an older driver. I can confirm that 576.88 has fixed the issue for me and I am getting much higher performance with PT enabled and the card power draw is now as expected.
DDU'd and installed 576.88. This is literally the opening scene on the street, max settings, PT enabled:
591.86: 74 fps with DLSS P and 2X FG, around 304W average GPU power draw
576.88: 118 fps with DLSS P and 2X FG, around 405W average GPU power draw

Best RTX HDR Settings?
Hello,
I found this 2 year old post which is sadly archived - https://www.reddit.com/r/nvidia/comments/1b03yfg/rtx\_hdr\_paper\_white\_gamma\_reference\_settings/
Has anything changed regarding the recommendations in that thread?

Do NOT use Preset E with Path Tracing in Resident Evil Requiem. It ruins image quality
I’ve seen several posts here recommending the use of Ray Reconstruction with the Transformer Preset “E” via Nvidia Inspector override for Resident Evil Requiem with pathtracing enabled.
However, I came across a comparison posted in a German forum that highlights some pretty significant downsides. You can check it out yourself:
Imgsli comparison: https://imgsli.com/NDUyODE2
RR Transformer Preset D (game default): https://ibb.co/WW49J2jK
RR Transformer Preset E (override): https://ibb.co/LX61yJ8b
All post processing effects have been disabled for this comparison including DoF, motion blur, chromatic aberration and film grain. Only the camera shake was still enabled.
As you can see, the image can become very blurry at times, after which Ray Reconstruction attempts to sharpen it. This often results in an very artificial, posterized look, almost like basic spatial upscaling.
I did some tests myself and I can confirm the same behavior. While Preset E often looks slightly sharper and provides more stable denoising (for example, less boiling artifacts on certain surfaces), it occasionally produces that low quality, overprocessed look shown in the images above. It's not always the case but it happens frequently on different surfaces and different lighting conditions.
Because of that, I don’t think using Preset E is worth it. It may perform better in certain aspects, but when it fails, it fails badly. There’s likely a very good reason why developers chose Preset D as the default setting for Ray Reconstruction.
People should probably do more thorough testing before broadly recommending an override to Preset E. Sometimes the answer isn’t as straightforward as it seems ;)

RE9 RayReconstruction D vs E - Imgsli
When you have VSync: ON + Low-Latency Mode: Ultra (Boost) in Global Settings for GSync, I know you're supposed to disable in-game VSync, but what about in-game Low-Latency Mode? Should you have that on in game on in in-game for GSync, or JUST on in Global Settings in the Nvidia App?
As the noscript says. I'm aware to use GSync properly you should have VSync ON and Low-Latency Mode on Ultra (or On+Boost before they changed the name), and I have always heard everyone say you should ALWAYS disable in-game VSync when doing this. However, I have never heard anybody talk about whether you should have in-game Low-Latency mode on in game or not? Does anyone know?

Now that the dust has settled - how do you use DLSS 4.5?
I'm not talking about using the "Recommended" override for Preset M in Performance and Preset L in 4k Ultra Performamce. It's common knowledge that those two are the best go-tos. I'm not talking about fixing Preset M artifacts in some games by overriding it with Preset L either.
How do you use DLSS when you have GPU to spare?
Do you still use Preset K Quality and Balanced or you find them making no sense compared to Preset M/L Performance nowadays?
Do you still use DLAA? DLAA in present M and L takes an absolutely massive fps hit, but Preset K still exhibits its old artifacting issues while M and L fix those for the most part. DLSS 4.5 also supposedly improves lighting n HDR games.
So is DLSS Quality (either Preset M or Preset L) now the go-to for maximum fidelity, when extra performance isn't needed, over DLAA Preset K nowadays?
I'm aware 1080p, 1440p and 4k outputs differ greatly when it comes to upscaling presets, but I'm still eager to hear a variety of viewpoints.

Insane Ghosting while using Pathtracing in Requiem
When arriving at Raccoon City, maybe because of the time of the day or something, the ghosting when using Pathtracing becomes unbearable. The beginning and the hospital parts were fine but in RC is almost unplayable
is there any fix for this at all?
