question

so don‘t the planets and the sun eliminate so many angles to shoot the probe to? so if the eye was behind the sun somehwere wouldn‘t they just never find the eye or did I miss aynthing?

I feel like I’m going schizophrenic over this one planet

alright so basically for the past 30 minutes I’ve been chasing this mystery planet, which randomly decides to either pop up near giant’s deep, dark bramble (holy shit fuck that place I’m never going there again), brittle hollow and hourglass twins, and the one time i managed to reach it, i just phased through it and it disappeared, am i genuinely becoming schizophrenic or is the game just trolling me. Also does the deep space radio do anything significant or is it just a cool little Easter egg

Comparison between the two artbooks

Translated from [xiaoheihe user 阿汾's post ](https://www.xiaoheihe.cn/app/bbs/link/f8bf713bacad)with permission.

As shown in the pics, both books arrived today, so I thought I’d do a quick comparison for everyone.

**The Contenders:**

* **The Official Art Book:** Released by iam8bit, written by Mobius Digital’s Art Director Wesley Martin. Full noscript: *Field Guide to the Outer Wilds*.
* **The Design Book:** A collaboration between Lost in Cult and Mobius, written by Chris Schilling. It features interviews with the core Mobius team and community members. Title: *Outer Wilds: Design Works*.

[Lost in Cult interview list](https://preview.redd.it/jgdwgge3uy9g1.png?width=2160&format=png&auto=webp&s=f507f9433fd9a94e099bb3f2386acf8bdc27a111)

**Size & Physical Comparison:**

* **Size:** The official iam8bit book is noticeably larger than the Lost in Cult version. The official one is larger than A4, while Lost in Cult is slightly smaller than A4.
* **Cover:** Official is Hardcover; Lost in Cult is Softcover.
* **Page Count:** Lost in Cult is 252 pages; Official is exactly 300 pages.

**Quality & Shipping Note:** The official hardcover texture feels amazing... **HOWEVER**, the shipping protection was non-existent. For any fellow travelers wanting to avoid "battle damage," I highly recommend using a forwarder/proxy close to the shipping origin if possible. Mine was shipped directly internationally, and as you can see, the corners got banged up.

Note by translator: *However, Lost in Cult's version is well packed with double card box. My copy arrived in a good shape.*

**Content Breakdown:**

SPOILER WARNING The following text and images might contain spoilers. **Newbie Hatchlings, do not proceed!**

>!**1. The Official Book (iam8bit)** This one focuses heavily on art settings. It collects a massive amount of scrapped concepts and design drafts. The overall texture feels like a weathered journal. It is definitely more image-heavy than text-heavy. *(Note: This one has been sold a few times before and there are unboxings on both BiliBili and YouTube, so I'll focus more on the other one).*!<

>!**2. The Lost in Cult Version** Check out the Table of Contents—they designed it to look just like the **Ship Log**! Felt instantly familiar the moment I saw it. !<

>!Looking at the inner pages, you can tell there is significantly more text here compared to the official art book.!<

>!By the way, Mobius mentioned that while there is some overlap in design sketches between the two, the Lost in Cult version contains some images that *aren't* in the official art book:!<

>!The Lost in Cult version also has some really nice kraft paper fold-out
designs:!<

>!Here’s a little doodle regarding the *Echoes of the Eye* DLC. It’s so cute, why didn't this make it into the official art book?!<

>!And a DLC version of this series of images that you might not have seen:!<

**Verdict:** In short, these two books (one official, one official collab) have done a great job at differentiating themselves.

* **iam8bit:** Focuses on Art/Lore/Vibes.
* **Lost in Cult:** Focuses on Game Design/Interviews.

Seeing all this content... I feel like my dead Hearthian heart is beating again. 🥺😭😭😭😭

I beat the game without ever witnessing the sun do that

I was very confused the first several times I randomly died. I was always underground or inside something when it happened. At first I thought it was caused by something I did. Next I just assumed the time loop had a time limit, but still didn't realize it was related to the sun.

I also unlocked meditation on my 3rd loop and was using it pretty often to reset when I was done exploring somewhere instead of finding my way back to my ship.

Eventually from the clues I figured out the sun must be exploding to reset the loop, but still never actually saw it until I started watching YouTube videos and seeing comments on peoples videos like "wow can't believe it took you 4 entire loops to figure out that the sun explodes"
