I really hope the Pixel 4/4 XL have flat screens.

Flat screens end up looking better because you can apply a screen protector that actually fits. And they're more practical....

Samsung Night Mode is insane!

I just got July update for my Galaxy S9 (Snapdragon Canada), and the night mode is crazy good.

I put it up against Gcam Night Sight (32 sec exposure, Eszdman V2 lib). I was execting an unfair matchup for using long exposure, and boy, I was surprised.

I used a tripod for both, since it was very dark in my basement and my hands are shaky.

Why do many Android enthusiasts vehemently avoid Google services/apps?

I don't use many Google apps simply because there are better featured alternatives, but i don't necessarily avoid them. In some cases, a reasonably better alternative either doesn't exist, or it's functionality is a pain in the ass to set up (for those of us slightly less tech literate). So why are (what seems to be) a large and knowlegeble group of users so willing to sacrifice function?

Note: I posted in r/androidapps and then realized my question had changed a little, so may fit better her...

First things you guys do when you buy a new phone?

Hello people!

I am curious what are the first things you guys do, when you buy a brand new smartphone. Do you do anything special, for example, anything that can help improve the future life of the smartphone?...

A cool feature for future phones would be if there was a setting to make screen tilt detect your eyes orientation instead of the accelerometers.

The thought came to me after getting annoyed whenever I'm relaxing in bed watching YouTube and I turn to my side to get comfy and have to turn off screen tilt or the video exits landscape mode....

Oneplus 7 pro review after 3 months: Near perfect hardware, oxygen OS is really starting to annoy me with its limitations.

Been a while since i've posted here. Note 9 kind of was the ultimate phone for a while for me... I guess until the oneplus 7 pro's 90hz 1440p oled screen did compel me to give it a shot... and overall I think its probably one of the best phones available in the US at msrp and worthwhile for most ppl, yet coming to this from a samsung phone feels oddly lacking... which would be the reverse a few years back. How has times changed!

So let's first talk about the good bits here. Oneplus did finally...
