What do you use your SD card for?

I've a Note9 and keep looking at SD cards but can't find a compelling reason to get one. What am I missing? Cheers...

What is the one thing that you would love to add to your phones?

I see a lot of mentions about SD card slots, headphone jacks, IR Blasters etc. but if you had to choose one thing that is really important but missing from the current phones, what would be it? I bet none of these would be it.

For me it would be higher battery life on LTE, since I constantly find myself out of juice on a busy day while I use apps like Uber, Maps, WhatsApp etc....

I held a Note 10 and it was pretty fucking glorious

So I work for a major communications company and yesterday a Samsung rep brought a Note 10 for us to trial. No pics as we had to turn in our phones before going into a closed room with it. The bezels are insanely tiny and the screen looks fantastic IRL.

Some of my coworkers were so surprised by the 90Hz display that they almost dropped it while using the camera preview. It's amazingly smooth and I can't wait to get my hands on one this Wednesday!...

Are we finally past the superficial innovations phase?

For the last couple of years, we've been getting notches, camera cut outs, small bezels, curved screens, rounded screens, bigger screen sizes, pop-out cameras; for higher and higher prices. To me, none of that is an innovation that really improves the phone.

Lately though, there is a lot of talk about 120Hz screens, low latency screens, high touch detection rates, bigger camera sensors (Huawei) and more good stuff that actually makes a difference. This is becoming exciting again. There was also...

2019: Bypass Verizon Hotspot Throttle (NO ROOT)

So this method is pretty straight forward and doesn't require root. After going thru my 15GB in a week while camping, Verizon throttled my hotspot to 600Kbps...which might as well be them turning off the function.

With this method, it simply bypasses hotspot data and cloaks the data as if it was normal phone data.

With my Verizon "unlimited" data plan, I have unlimited data (22gb and then deprioritized if congested, not throttled.). I've never been throttled for going over my cellular data,...

LG has the leverage to be prominent again in the flagship range, will they do it is the question

With almost all flagship OEMs removing the jack LG is in a really good place right now to get Samsung's customers who are going to be upset when the note comes without a 3.5mm jack.

LG really needs to do everything in their power to communicate that they will be keeping the jack, and they also need to do something huge about their software support. If they could get these two categories in check then I believe their phone sales could make a huge resurgence.

The door is open for you LG, now'...

Setting for an elder

So I decided to give my old Pixel to my mother in law. She never had an Android phone before - she's been using an old Symbian Nokia (touch screen, though) for years.

So that's what I did:

* I installed Nova Launcher, set the UI to large font, large elements.
* disabled Google Assistant on home button press - it still launches on long press - can I disable it too?
* uninstalled all apps I could - still plenty left (YT, Drive, Keep, etc), can I remove them too?
* on the home screen I kept only...
