Why did Amazon devices flop ?

For me I think that Amazon tablets flopped because Amazon tried so hard to lock people into their broken ecosystem. I mean seriously, the Fire OS that Amazon tablets use is based off Android, but it won't allow you to use the Google Play Store nor Google Services. Plus the Fire OS was based on Android 5.0 and wasn't a good software. My current phone is Samsung and even though they do have their own apps at least they're quality. Not only that, but they don't completely restrict you from the Goog...

A question for those with minimalist homescreens that hide the status bar

Assuming that your battery percentage and/or cell signal are not displayed in a widget or in KLWP, how is it okay with you that you don't see your battery percentage or wifi and cell signal? Also with the status bar hidden, you can't see your notifications. I myself want to hide the status bar because it looks really clean, but I'm curious how I can get by with not seeing the info the status bar presents....

Here's a rootless ADB list of Samsung bloatware to uninstall that I've curated

I work in IT, and our company hands out VZW Samsung phones to their users for work phones. This is the list I've curated over the last few years of different bloatware that's cropped up, and because people complained about Bixby. This will blow away Bixby for you.

This doesn't touch any carrier bloat other than VZW, so you'll have to get a list of other carrier specific apps.

This uninstalls it as the current user, so it won't break any updates and you'll have everything back after a factory r...

Do you like curved screens, and if so, why?

When the Samsung galaxy curve first arrived on the scene I thought it was a gimmick that will never catch on, but now it's harder to find a handset with a perfectly flat screen. So, do you like curved screens and if so, why?...

Anyone here get the Note 10 over the S10 and are happy with the decision?

My wife and I have to get on a new plan, and we’re most likely going with T-Mobile.

The thing is, T-Mobile has a BOGO on the Note 10 and Note 10+ but not the S10 and 10+. I’m not big on the + phones due to how big they are, and I do think the S10 is probably the better phone for me due to being 1440p and having a headphone jack, but it’s hard to say no to a BOGO.

Anyone here wind up buying the Note 10 over the S10 and are happy with their decision? I feel like at the end of the day I’m being o...

Screenshot a selected area of the screen?

I think it would be really nice if the screenshot button that appears on the menu after long press lock button (Google Pixel Phones) gave you the option to screenshot a selected area of the screen, and the short cut (volume up and lock button) just made a regular screenshot. What do you think?...

PSA : How to share a URL from in-app browser

How I used to do it : In the menu, select "Open in Chrome" and then share it from there.

Better option I just discovered : Click on the URL on top that displays only the website root address, it will show the full URL of the page you're visiting. Long-press on that full URL and it will be copied to the clipboard. Share at will.

Hopefully will be useful for other people :)...

Did Android bring any real change with each upgrade after Kitkat?

Comparing **Pie** to its previous versions,do you observe any real upgrade to the OS?
All the features are basically the same. All I see is enhancements in the UI which now is much smoother and elegant looking.

Apart from UI, no features has been added which can be beneficial for end users.
For eg. I have been missing daily data usage stats since I started using Android K. Till now, the data usage stats are the same as it was in Android K. We have to install a 3rd party app for some of t...

Will the overscroll effect become more popular on Android?

In the past few weeks, I've seen more apps implement the iOS-like overscroll/bounce scrolling effect. For example, Poweramp, a music player. [Google Go](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.apps.searchlite&hl=en_US) also does it.

I always thought that this effect wasn't allowed to be on Android because of [Apple's patent](https://www.macworld.com/article/2042023/apples-crucial-overscroll-bounce-patent-claim-is-valid-us-patent-office-says.html). So will this effect be...

Uninstalled Samsung Health today, BIG relief.

I recently linked my Gear S3 watch to my phone and set up Samsung Health to go along with it, however, recently, I found my phone heating up way too much and way too quickly, and my phone becoming EXTREMELY slow, sometimes I'd just use it to check whatsapp and it would be BURNING, and sometimes might even take around a whole minute for the app to boot up. I looked into what was causing it and lo and behold, S Health was running in the background constantly, with 99% RAM usage. I uninstalled it i...
