Why we don't get to see new smartphones with last year processors?
I was thinking this morning about the mi 9t and the snapdragon 730 it carries, people compare the power of the 730 with the 845 from last year, just a little bit less power but better battery life (10 nm vs 8 nm).
So I started wondering, what happend with all the 845 chips that didn't sell? Why we don't get to see mid-range phones with last year flagship processor? I'm kinda curious about that, why there has to be mid range processors for mid range phones, why qualcomm doesn't sell those chip ...

Clicker trojan infected s8+ via Insights app
I just got an alarm notification from my calendar that iPhones were going on sale. I knew I didn't set the reminder so was really confused why my **Android** was sending me a notification to buy an iphone.
I ran Malwarebytes and it said my Insights app was infected with a clicker trojan. Googled it and realized how extensive the issue is and how many people are being affected through different apps; wanted to add this one to the list....

Because of CamScanner, I downloaded Malwarebytes to scan my phone. Apparently ADM Pro also has a Trojan downloader.

PSA: dns.adguard.com or other DNS over TLS adblockers may block your Play Store app updates
I was unable to update any of the installed apps for a long time (also, didn't install anything new for long). Checked the my apps section on the play store one day and it reporting some 90 apps need to be updated. Started the process but things got stuck at downloading screen.
Tried restarting, clearing cache etc. but nothing changed until got off the dns.adguard.com private DNS setting from the phone.
I think this also affected the automated WhatsApp backup but need to verify....

Google Store does have access to your IMEI number
As many of you probably already know, there is a class action lawsuit for the Pixel 1 if you had a defective microphone. I had gotten rid of both Pixels and did not have access to the IMEI numbers. However, I did have my order numbers from the Google store.

If you've purchased a Pixel 1 phone from the Google store directly, they do have access to the IMEI if you provide the order number. I had to ask their chat bot for it 3 different ways, and this seemed to work for me:

Reliability of 3rd tier Chinese smartphones?
What are everyone's opinions on "3rd tier" Chinese smartphone brands and their products? I'm not talking about Huawei, Oppo, Xiaomi or even Pocophone or OnePlus, but the ones that sell directly through their website, Amazon, Aliexpress, or other independent markets.
I'm thinking more along the lines of Blu, Elephone, Umidigi, etc.
I know not to expect much in terms of software updates or aftermarket service, but some of their recent models do seem very attractive (large batteries, fast chargin...
