Now when you lift or tap to wake you get your full lock screen wallpaper and everything at current screen brightness and not just the clock and the notifications at higher-than-normal brightness. Any workarounds to get it back to what Pie had?...

Enable dark theme support on Gmail [Root required]

I played around with the root files and found the flag to enable dark theme:

I'm on version 2019.08.18.267044774.release as an FYI.

1. Go to data\data\com.google.android.gm\shared_prefs\FlagPrefs.xml

2. Search for "DarkThemeSupport" (should be one of the first flags) and change to True. Save.

3. Force close Gmail and reopen. Theme support should be now there in the General Settings....

Android 10 gestures - incomplete Home button replacement?

In previous Android versions the Home button would return to the launcher when pressed, then take you to the launcher's main (usually leftmost) page if pressed a second time.

The new Home gesture (swipe up) replaces the first press of the Home button, but what's the quick way to then get to the main launcher page? I wrote a long-form article speculating on the computational photography techniques Google could employ in the Pixel 4, but all these leaks have spoiled the premise. I think it's still an interesting read, so if you're curious about how HDR+ works and what could have been, here it is anyway!

I wrote this article theorising that Google would release the Pixel 4 with two identical lenses and sensors due to the way their HDR+ algorithm works, and then a day or two before I was gonna finish it the leak came out saying it would be a standard and a telephoto, ruining my fun.
