Older Android phones risk losing positioning and timing on November 3rd!

So maybe you have heard of the GPS [week rollover, which occurred last April](https://www.gnss.ca/support/papers/gps2019)? turns out there is still significant risk to a bunch of mobile phones, some of which made as recently as 2016. The second coming of week roll over is November 3rd and may cause loss of position and time . Here's the links to the support reference from Verizon:

Can we have a cheap phone appreciation thread?

I keep a spare cell phone line on my account, and always have some cheap piece of junk my carrier sells for next to nothing or is giving away at the moment.

Upgraded from a Samsung Galaxy J3 Emerge to Galaxy J3 Achieve, was pleasantly surprised at how pretty and smooth Samsung One UI is! Gone is the ugly old plasticy look and Marshmallow, the contemporary Samsung design and Oreo looked very modern in comparison. What's even more surprising, it updated to 9 Pie shortly after.

Maybe my expectati...

Just an idea - when you get a new phone, start with all notifications disabled

I recently got a new phone and decided to start "clean" with nothing in my notifications unless I specifically enable it. What used to be a hot mess of notifications from random apps is now just messages and email notifications. Everything else I thought was important really isn't.

It's actually a breath of fresh air and a simple thing to do. Figured I'd share on here for anyone else that feeling like they are getting too many alerts...

Astrophotograpy over video and wide angle camera on Pixel 4?

How many users were asking or wanting astrophotography? After using this feature 3 times how many people will use this feature?

Google choose to work on this so reviewers would have something to talk about and it would make a nice marketing piece over adding a wide-angle lens or even attempting to improve the video.

Google is not the only company that adds a feature just to give reviewers something to talk about, but it is clear this phone is for an extreme niche of tech consumer....

Opinion: Bottom navigation drawers are a great, better replacement for left side ones, and should become new standard

My points on why side navigation drawers (SND) were never really great:

* Getting to SND with a swipe from the left is useful, but has really bad discoverability
* Without swipe (now it's basically gone) you need to reach up to the least comfortable corner of your screen
* Inside SND most important items tend to be at the top, which is also hard to reach
* Hamburger button at the top almost requires app to have header, which makes devs to put 3-dot button also at the top, which is also not conv...

Can we stop with the dark-theme related posts?

We get it. You got dark theme. So did many others. But neither did many more.

It's not a global rollout, it's server-sided, meaning you were selected practically at random. You saying "they brought out dark mode!" means literally nothing.

Personally, I don't even know why this is getting so much coverage in the first place. Google don't deserve so much coverage over one of the most simple features to add to an app, which they then remove a few hours later because it's not a global rollout....
