Smartphones after 6+ years and other things that manufacturers don't like people to know

One weekend ago I wanted to test some specific custom phone ROMs out there but in the first stage I was prepared to do (potentially more destructive) tests only on the oldest Android phone I still have - a Samsung Note 3 N9005 from 2013.

So I went ahead and updated it to the latest Samsung stock (Android 5.0 from 2015 - before Samsung switched to 3 years of security updates for the flagships, old stuff but it was needed to be certain the phone has the latest baseband/modem and other separate fi...

does nobody care about microphone specs?! which phones have the best internal mic and how do i find this information?

I use my phone to record live music footage more than I use it for anything else. Having a good microphone is crucial but it seems like most manufacturers don't even bother listing microphone specs. Video from my LG G6 sounds great (but looks awful😬) and the spec sheet lists this:

HD Audio Recorder 24bit / 192KHz FLAC
Hi-Fi Record with high AOP Mic Up to 132dB

Is there any kind of resource that will help me find this information for other phones and compare them? I'm not that interested in br...

Lawnchair V2 vs Nova

I've used Nova Prime for over a year now and like it, but I've heard good things about Lawnchair and now that it's available on the Play Store, I'm considering switching.

This is a thread to compare the two launchers.

Which do you prefer and why?...

Your alternative headphones connection?

Since more models are getting rid of 3.5mm analog output, what is your preferred alternative audio connection?

BT seems to be convenient, but audio lag when playing games is unacceptable.

I like using USB C digital headphones even it's rather clumsy (need an adapter), but audio is much better, and I can even use Apple headset with Lightning plug with compatible adapter from Anker.

What connection you prefer more?...

I guess you dont see this much of screen time everyday

Recently switched from a OP7 while in search of a better battery life, finally decided on a Samsung M30s. Couldnt be happier with it tbh.

Gmail Gmail Gmail :(

So this had already been posted before but I don't want to let Google off the hook. As Google should be ashamed of themselves.

Email is important, arguably just as important as phone calls and text messages. For my line off work I need my emails instantly! I don't check my phone frequently but I should be getting a notification when I get a new email so I'm at least aware. Not when I finally decided to wake up my phone and it all comes pouring through!

What's the point having Gmail on push n...

So.. I bought this new Xiaomi phone, (MIUI) and found out some horrible practices that many android-users should be made aware of.

Hi all. I'm sorry if you already knew this, but I would love to inform some android users about practices by Xiaomi and probably many others.

So I bought this new Xiaomi Note 8 Pro about 1 month ago. I've been hesitant to swap my sim-card to this new phone, since I kinda wanted to keep it "clean", and remove all bloatware before I use it. I didn't want it to get linked to me personally, so I also created a new google account etc.

Now I know what you're thinking... it doesn't change a thing. An...

PSA: Xiaomi still sends data to their servers, even after turning ads and analytics off.

Even after turning everything off and adb-ing some of the system apps, I realized my Redmi Note 8 (on Global MIUI 11) was still making requests after every app launch to [data.mistat.intl.xiaomi.com](https://data.mistat.intl.xiaomi.com).
