PSA: Google finally added the swipe down gesture to stock Android

I'm not kidding, I had a small update this morning, ~150mb, and it added the gesture to open the notifications.

It's not mentioned even in the settings or in the changelog, nowhere....

Google Photos "chat" share got enabled for me, fixes a couple of things, but misses basic stuff too

I got the new [chat-like sharing](https://www.theverge.com/2019/12/3/20992649/google-photos-sharing-feature-private-messaging-launch) option enabled on my Pixel 4XL. It seems to me it was vastly overhyped. True that the most annoying thing about sharing a few photos via a link or directly (which created a new album) is gone, but that's about it. Functionally, it's about the same, I think it's a bit much to call it a "chat" feature.

AFAICT you could do the same things with a shared album, and I ...

Factory Resets may fix your Pixel 4 battery issues

Automod of /r/GooglePixel removed this due it the word battery, posting here instead.

**TL:DR** A factory reset may drastically improve your Pixel 4's batter life if you are getting lower performance than others seem to be reporting. There might be a battery drain bug causing Google system to operate excessively in the background.

Like many, the battery specs on the P4 made me wary, but early reports of 5 hours SOT gave me hope since I typically average 2-3 hours and if it can do 5 hours, I'd ...

Google doesn't allow you to disable Chrome anymore (kinda)

I review phones and switch them every 2 weeks. I stopped using Chrome a while ago and on every new phone I disable automatic updates for it, and disable the app afterwards. Lately I've noticed that it automatically enables and updates itself, sometimes even while I'm on mobile data. This happened on OneUI, MIUI and Android One. Did anyone else notice this? How to stop Google from enabling Chrome and updating it?...

How Apple removing the charging port scares me as an Android user

Let's say the speculation ends up being true and the 2021 iPhone will have no ports. Now, I couldn't care less about what features the iPhone has or doesn't have. I use an Android phone. What I do care about, is that Android phone manufacturers have a bit of a reputation for blindly copying Apple in hopes that making the same mistakes as Apple will make them successful. But I digress.

When you think about it, this situation seems eerily similar to the headphone jack going extinct: Apple realize...

What's the most unique Android Phone you've ever owned?

We all can agree that nowadays android smartphones look similar. Back in Android's baby era, there were a lot of phones with characteristics that you wouldn't find in another device.

In my case, I was (and still am) a physical keyboard lover, so I got the chance to purchase a [Motorola Flipout](https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/8/8b/Motorola_flipout.jpg/762px-Motorola_flipout.jpg): A square device with a hidden keyboard that you could release rotating the screen over an axis....
