The current trend of smartphone prices.

So with the announcement of the s20 line of phones I have really noticed the trend with prices and as a consumer I find it kind of irritating.

Last year Samsung released the s10e. And where it did lack on some features like no in display finger print scanner, and a smaller screen, it had many upsides of packing the same performance and decent batter life into the device at a fairly obtainable price.

749, 899, and 999 seemed like a balance. It gave most consumers looking for a high performance...

Mobile photography: why we won't see, and shouldn't want, true optical zoom lenses on our smartphones

*[I initially started writing this as a reply to another post on this subreddit that was asking about when we would see "optical zoom that won't make phone look weird", but figured it was worth making into its own separate post since I hope this will help folks here gain a better understanding into the constraints and considerations that go into designing cameras for our smartphones. So I looked into Appcoins, which seemed to be legit and Aptoide Market had the apps marked with a "Trusted" badge. So i went ahead and bought 2 apps AutoVoice and AutoTools, from Apt...

Samsung's Volume Button Placement

So this is purely out of curiosity --

Traditionally, Samsung phones have had their power button on their right and volume buttons on the left, and post-S8 devices have had the Bixby button below the volume buttons. But on more recent phones (post S10 - Note 10 line, S20 line, S10 lite, Note 10 lite, A50, A70 etc.), Samsung has 1) removed the Bixby button, and 2) moved the volume buttons ~~to the right side of the phone, above the power/lock button~~ and the power button to the same side of the ...

Custom contact colors were taking away but did anyone notice that in group messages it's the same color across all android phones?

It's actually really cool. You can identify the person by their contact number without knowing what their name is....

Is the Samsung S20 60Hz lock on QuadHD+ a dealbreaker?

Since the news has been hitting that the Quad HD+ resolution is locked to 60Hz. To use the 120Hz refresh rate you'll have to settle with full hd.

I for one really wanted to buy the new S20 but seeing that you can't use it to full potential it feels like a deal breaker. If they don't allow it with a software update I might sit out on this one.

What do you think? Is it a dealbreaker for you?
If you think it doesn't matter, which would you choose? Resolution or Hz?...
