Polls say that most of the people (at least enthusiasts) use dark mode on their phones. Why are there so many power users that want dark mode scheduling?

I have recently seen some polls where over 80% of participants use dark mode wherever it's possible. Dark mode has always been the way to go on custom ROMs, etc. - generaly speaking for us, enthusiasts - it's a must have, isn't it? And now Android 11 may come with dark mode scheduling and I can see a lot of power users being excited about that. I wonder why is that. Personally, I would rather use dark mode 24/7 and I suspect most of our community would so too. Is there really anything to be exci...

[Root] Messenger Beta adds built in app lock feature using Biometrics API

[Screenshots](https://imgur.com/a/KqXcF1X)

* No matter what option you choose, you will be asked for credentials upon leaving the app.
* It shows FaceID for me even if did not enable it (I also just have a Redmi Note 7 running Pixel Experience, no FaceID)
* Currently, you won't be able to open chat heads; tapping on it asks for credentials and then opens the whole app. Chat heads can still appear and notify for messages.
* This is the first time the gatekeeper worked so the issues may be fixed ...

What's your favorite Android weather app / widget?

I've been a Yahoo weather user forever and although the app is beautiful, it's not been the most accurate lately. Was thinking of trying Dark Sky or AccuWeather....

The Potential of Android 11's Bubbles

Does something like this open the door for dragging and dropping?

Ex: In Google Photos, click a picture, drag it to the messages bubble, and it drops there, ready to send.

Feels like it has potential to be great for multitasking, but current apps would probably need to be reworked. to support dragging.

Or is DnD something way too difficult to implement?

EDIT - Found this old article talking about Google patenting drag and drop.

Android Messages for Web not staying connected with screen off? Possible solution:

Common issue that keeps coming up - Android Messages for Web not staying connected to a PC client. Works fine on my home network, not at work.

So, I brought an old router from home and hooked it up to the office modem, and the connection is much more stable. The router I was using at the office was a gateway (att fiber modem / wifi combo Arris bgw210). Now I am running it in bridge mode with ip passthrough to an old netgear router (meaning I disabled the gateways radios and all firewall / n...

Best apps for phone [self-tested ranking]

I made this post after testing loads of applications for phones to know which are the best in its category. Of all apps I tested I selected the ones I though fulfill with what they are intended for and made a list ranking them from the best for its purpose (first of the list) to the worst for it (last of the list).

As a criterion, I tried to put apps which are free and only put paid apps when these added a distinguishing amount of functions with respect to free of cost alternatives. Also, for t...

I watched my Oneplus 7T back glass crack in my hand.

I saw a couple of posts just like this and dismissed them as people lying about abusing their phones or something... but it happened to me, so I'm throwing in my data point.

I took my oneplus 7T out of it's case on a whim while I was outside. I literally watched as the back glass cracked spontaneously from the power button outward as I was holding it. It was pretty cold outside, about 30F - I imagine that it was the temperature change ...
