iPhone user for 10 years. Bought an S10+ 2 weeks ago. Here's my unbiased review.

Hey guys. A little backstory first. I went from a X to a 11 Pro Max and back to my X, because the Pro Max was just too big and heavy. The 11 Pro is basically my X with a bigger battery and camera, and is about $600 more. I didn't feel like it was worth it, so I sold the Pro Max and stuck with my X. 2 weeks ago I decided to try out an S10+. Here are my thoughts.

I will break things down to different categories.

Amazing display. It's literally like a sticker. It's so much better than a...

Theory: Galaxy One

I think the next generation of smartphones from Samsung is unlikely to call Galaxy S21, so would they be making a strategy, or testing whether foldable devices really have a promising future. Next year, it will launch a line called Galaxy One, with the entry device, a more basic phone, for people who like more compact phones, like last year's S10e, but with the same style as the A80, an (A80/S-lite) and a middle line, would be a mix of the S line with Flip (S-Ultra/Fold), and the most premium li...

Petition for a programmable button

Can we get an extra button for our phones? Do not specify a task for it, let the user decide what they want.

It can be anything,

Call someone
Sos
Turn subnoscript on/off
Mute/unmute

Well, you get the idea. Is it possible? Let's just have a discussion....

What are the best Android apps/games that would be worse on other devices?

I like to play games as much as the next guy, and there's many apps that I use exclusively on my phone; but here, I'm really interested in stuff that simply works much *better* on a phone.

e.g. you might like shooters or racing games, but there's really no point in comparing the best PC/console shooters to Android ones; the same way as a computer is kinda bad for making calls, or that you don't really get the same feeling on a PC when comparing games designed around using your phone's accelerom...

There is a huge problem with the process of samsung flagship reviews

Samsung flagship reviews are missleading to 80% of the world and this is not the fault of the reviewers, the fact that for the past years the exynos SoC is way inferior that the snapdragon when it comes to battery life, thermals, and consistent performance/GPU causes a huge problm, the most famous sites and youtubers around the world are based in the US and they get the SD varient so the conclusion and 30-40% of what they are saying cant be applied to the experience of 70-80% of the people watc...

Opinion: It's about time we start expressing camera "zoom levels" in terms of their full frame equivalent focal lengths.

For those of you who don't know, lenses for real cameras are always expressed as "Xmm" lenses - it's a slightly weird system, but it's an actual mathematical number that you can tie things to in your mind, so I know that if I have a 35mm lens and a 70mm lens that the 70 is twice as zoomed in as the 35. We know what the framing of a 35mm looks like, that's a very *standard* focal length, so we can pretty easily understand what a 70mm would look like too.

In a smartphone, we would call that 70mm ...

Zenfone 4 ZE554KL Android 8.0 update decreses Netflix Resolution from 1080p to 540p

So, I discovered something very interesting and very upsetting. Even though I had a powerful cell phone with Full HD (1080p) screen, my Zenfone 4 was receiving from Netflix stream in SD only (540p approx). When I downloaded an episode, instead of watching it through streaming, the quality was even worse, full of artifacts and flaws in the images, especially in the dark ones.

After much research, I discovered that this was due to a DRM control implemented on Android by the company Widevine, whic...

What animation speed do you use?

I can't decide between 1X as it has the most smooth and bug free experience. While .5x has less bugs than no animations it's not as fast as it.

I have an LG g8 on Android 10 btw...

the cleanness of iOS is getting to me

android just feels clunky and inconsistent, compared to the design of iOS, everything just feels worse.

yeah, having the customisation of android is amazing, but it also makes having one design language a lot harder, and sometimes things just don't work the same way as they do on iPhones. I've been a big android supporter for years but im considering my next phone to be an iPhone, to at least use along side my current OnePlus 6T.

ive been using macos for a long long time and I just recently go...
