Has Project Treble done anything to improve the system update situation on Android?

Project Treble was hailed as the solution for Android's generally very poor system update situation. It was supposed to make system updates way easier by decoupling the low level driver stuff from the rest of the OS so that manufacturers wouldn't need to update all that stuff as well.

It also made it possible for phones to run a generic device-agnostic version of Android.

My question now is whether or not this became a reality. Are new phones today getting more numerous and frequent updates? ...

Am I the only one that likes smaller screens and physical buttons?

So I've had a Samsung Galaxy A7 2018 for about a year now and I recently got my mom's Galaxy S7 to use for a bit and I love the actual buttons on the bottom for the back and app drawers. The physical home button is nice as well.

I like the smaller screen because I have a harder time typing on the larger displays and when I'm watching content, I despise the two giant black bars on videos that aren't wide screen.

Opinion: Android phones' cameras have a bokeh problem.

I've noticed that even on the biggest, baddest Androids (S20U) their cameras just aren't up to muster. Not only do they have very little background separation (maybe with portrait mode) but their bokeh quality is poor. The circles have defined rings in them, and this makes backgrounds look busy.


What do you think should be done? I'm thinking of a one-two punch of a large sensor augmented by portrait mode to clean up backgrounds....
