Rant about the current state of Android phones (Feel free to add anything, or discuss in a civil manner)

edit: oops, forgot about the "no rants rule", sorry about that. feel free to remove this post

I've had these thoughts ever since the iPhone 11 released and since I have a lot of time on my hands, I might as well get them out.

I want to preface this by saying that I'm not a troll, or a fanboy, or anything. I current use android, but I'm having other thoughts for my next phone...

No phone has ever been perfect.

Pixel 4 is an easy one to pick on.

iPhone 6 had folding problems and was behind in...

Hangouts shared image downloader solution

Google is shutting down Hangouts soon, so I moved my group chats away from Hangouts.

I wanted to make backup from all shared images, but currently there is no way to get them. So as solution I made a small noscript that downloads all links from Hangouts history. Seems to work for now, so maybe its helpful for somebody else as well.

It can be found here [Github](https://github.com/KristianKalm/HangoutsDownloader) with tutorial how to use it.

Feedback / improvements welcome...

How to install custom fonts on Android 10

I decided to make a tutorial on how to install custom fonts on Android 10 since Google removed support for them. It requires Magisk/ROOT, but it's worth it. If you want to learn how, click [here](https://RedBird16.com/tutorial-four).

I hope someone finds this helpful.

My observations as an owner of a S20+ exonys model

My last few phones have been OnePlus.

After my 6t's screen got cracked, I decided to take advantage of a nice package deal on the S20+, despite it's premium price compared to what I have been used to.

I was not expecting the performance to be so sub-par.

•This phone gets HOT. And this is just with normal use, after maybe only 30 minutes of screen on time.
While playing a game, it is uncomfortable to hold.

• It has serious lag and frame drops.

The two most egregious times this is apparent is...

Android getting worse every year. And everyone wants to update to a closed system. Why?

After Nougat, i think android is more a closed system. Before (era jellybean) everything you can imagine can mod the phone. You clould have plug in your phone in a computer and read/ write all the files (mass storage), google changed that to mtp. You could use your sdcard as internal storage (root option). You could use your sdcard as more ram storage (not a good idea, because it is really slow, but hey that was an option). You could use your phone as a miracast receiver/sink conected via mhl to...
