How the Apple/Google coronavirus contact tracing system works - ELI5 version

I have read [the specifications](https://www.apple.com/covid19/contacttracing) for this system and below is my simplified explanation of how it works. See [my previous comment](https://www.reddit.com/r/Android/comments/g7iri0/apple_and_google_pledge_to_shut_down_coronavirus/foj2xz9?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x) for a more technical explanation.

I understand the love of innovation nowadays but some are just seeming excessive and it's gotten to the point where we're losing things we like

Why does every (usually mid-range) phone need an inscreen fingerprint sensor, teardrop notch, 3+ camera setup, no headphone jack and more then 90hz display if a) they cost more b) they do less and c) they make the phone harder to use? I mean there is no reason to put the fingerprint sensor on the front other then to be like every other phone, along with the teardrop notch. Some phones are either looking ugly or generic, and cutting costs where it internally matters just to have the 4 camera setu...

Why Are Global Versions Of Chinese Phones Almost Always Delayed?

Recently I've started looking for a replacement for my S8+, and while I'm in no rush, eventually I will have to pick a new device.

First, I've noticed that not only the usual bunch (Apple, Samsung, Huawei), but the bargain brands as well (Xiaomi, Honor, OnePlus, Oppo etc.) have blown the flagship prices absolutely sky high. While flagships have never been budget-friendly, this year they are making gaming PCs look affordable.

With that in mind, I've turned to newer brands, such as Realme, as we...

The addition/subtraction of which feature in a smartphone was unpopular at the time of introduction but ended up being beneficial in the long run?

I would have to say that Apple's removal of the headphone jack in the iPhone 7 series, while unpopular, did lead to an improvement in Bluetooth quality (if I'm not mistaken I heard this in an MKBHD video)....

There should be an average price indicator for mobiles instead of quoting US pricing all the time

I guess there should be an average price indicator for mobile instead of quoting US pricing all the time.

For example, OnePlus 8 costs more in US than Asian countries and iPhone SE costs way less in US when compared with other all countries.

So, this doesn't let the customer know what's the average price of this phone when compared with the selling price in other countries....

What are some unique features of your most disliked OS that you wish other companies would copy?

Eg: I'm never going back to Motorola after their abhorrent software support, but I do wish other companies copied their Moto Gestures ( 2 chops to activate the flashlight, turning the wrist to activate the camera,etc.)...

Android should have a Cleaning Phone mode setting

I (maybe too often) clean my phone with a damp cloth or wet wipes to take out all the grimes, sweat and smudges from daily use. Sometimes I will put it under a faucet for a second.

What happens is that all this rubbing and scrubbing triggers the fingerprint and touch display causing all sort of errors such as the multiple incorrect fingerprint logins or screen entries.

I wish Android would have a Cleaning Phone mode setting that would turn off the sensors and display touch input for 15 second...

Moving from S10+ to iPhone 11 Pro - An In-Depth Review and Comparison

I'm someone who has used many flagship Android phones in the past 6 years - namely LG G4, S6 Edge+, S7 Edge, S9 and S10+. I'm an engineer, and very much a technical guy and so I always enjoyed Android. Before my LG G4, I used the iPhone 3G, iPhone 4, iPhone 5S, so I'm not foreign to the Apple world too. I had the S10+ (Exynos) from release date, for a little over a year. This is a review of how I feel about the S10+ (a recent flagship Samsung) and the iPhone 11 Pro (a recent flagship iPhone) whi...
